Chapter. 4 The Flashback

The beginning of Summer 2006 was when Andrew broke my heart.

We were to graduate that day at the large stadium downtown. Our grade had six hundred people, which meant we had to have the ceremony at a different location. I couldn't be more excited to spend my life with Andrew...

Or so I thought.

I began that day with a smile that wouldn't go away, and my stomach doing flips over the fact that I was finally out of high school.  It'd been four years of studying my ass off, and taking required classes that I didn't give a shit about.

There was only one thing that kept me going: Andrew.

We'd been dating since ninth grade. At first it was just one of those awkward relationships where you don't know what to do, but soon enough it became completely real. We began to actually fall hard for each other.

We stayed together for all four years. The longest relationship the high school had seen since 1999. He was my first kiss, my first love, my first time... he was my everything.

The night of graduation I walked up on that stage with so much confidence in my future. Grabbing my diploma I smiled broadly at Andrew; the boy I thought I would be with for the rest of my life. He had waved back grinning widely from the group of the rest of the graduates.

I just couldn't have been happier.

After the ceremony there was a lock in at the school that all the graduates could go to. You went in at ten PM and couldn't get out until six AM the next morning. No big deal. My friends and I could always find something entertaining to do for hours.

It ended up just being Andrew and I making out in a corner for most of it.

The school finally opened the doors at six, and people were quickly crowding together trying to get out of the door. There was no alcohol allowed, but of course someone just had to bring some, so some people were a bit tipsy. No surprise.

The sun still hadn't come up at that point, so everyone was stumbling around  in the dark trying to find their car.

Andrew drove me to our favorite spot on this ridge looking out over the city. He brought his guitar and he sang to me as we watched the sun come up. Everything was just perfect.

"I love you," I said to him for what must have been the millionth time.

"I love you too."

"Please don't ever leave me."

He hesitated for a moment, which I just shook off at the time. He said in a quiet voice, "I won't."

He left later that day. And I never saw or spoke to him again after that morning... until now.

__________

Ooooh, I'm sorry but the feels are already getting to me... is that bad?

Hope you enjoy! Why do you think Andrew left her?
