Louis's POV

Caron was acting strange, to say the least, twitching all the time. Spacing out for long periods and then snapping back into reality. Most importantly, he wasn't making eye contact with anyone, at least since he returned from the bathroom. It was almost like he was paranoid about something.

Maybe he knew I saw right through the poem and he knew I knew that he was gay. I probably smiled a little too much well reading it. Or maybe I kept giving him a knowing look. Either way, he looked genuinely freaked out.

I had to find another meaning to this poem; there was no way I would expose him without his consent. He obviously knew what this school was capable of and that's why he was still in the closet. Hell, if I wasn't already out of the closet, I would be hiding myself from this school too.

What else do people hide? Depression maybe? I guess that will have to do because there's no way I can think of something else that someone hides. I can make this work.

Thankfully the bell ringing broke through my thoughts before I could really stress out,

"Don't forget the short story based on your partner's poem is due next week," Mr. Heinze yelled as students shuffled out of class.

I took my time gathering my stuff before heading out of the room and to my locker. By the time I got to the senior hallway, it was already cleared out. Literally, there wasn't a soul in sight.

As my locker door opened, a small piece of paper fell out. I knew it was probably just a hate note of something, but I still bent down and picked it up. Casually opening it and scanning the words.

Dear Louis,

Meet me in the janitor's closet next to room 213 during first period tomorrow. I need to talk to you.

The handwriting looked semi-familiar, but I couldn't place it.

Once again, I was left with a choice, go to the janitor's closet tomorrow or go to class.

Unfortunately, the saying is curiosity killed the cat.
