Ten years had passed since that fateful night in which James and Lily Potter died. Harry now had about 10 years and lived in Privet Drive, in a modest house with its only living relatives: the Dursley. The Dursley were a current and reel family of muggles (non-magical people), who tried mostly to stay away from things that escaped to their understanding or that had relationship with the supernatural. The adoptive family of Harry consisted of the Uncle Vernon, Aunt Petunia and their son, Dudley. The Dursley family at whole shared a very Deep hate and despise for Harry, as strange things happened around him since he was a small child. On the birthday of Dudley, the Dursleys decided to take both children to the zoo.
—I warn you boy, a rare thing, only one, and you'll be without dinner for a week. —threatened Uncle Vernon before they both got inside the car —. Is it clear?
—Yes sir. —answered Harry while he nodded quickly.
As son as they arrived at the zoo, the Dursleys along Harry went through several departments before reaching the one of the reptiles. Dudley was excited by a snake of huge size, and after he pasted his face to the glass, began to beat it.
—Make it move! —demanded Harry's cousin to his father. Uncle Vernon did what his son had told him and hit the glass a few times —. Move! —exclaimed Dudley with his rude and shrill voice.
—It's asleep! —exclaimed Harry with some grief.
—Boring... —said Dudley, already weary of being in front of that animal that slept pacefully. After saying those words he moved away from there with his parents. Harry then turned his face to his left, and encountered a mysterious figure almost at his side. This figure was hooded entirely in black, only making visible part of his lower face: red lips as carmine and her somewhat pale but rosy complexion at the same time.
—Hello... —mumbled Harry with a low voice, impressed still buy that person who wore that dark hoodie —. Who are you? —he asked, approaching slightly to the mysterious figure.
—That doesn't matter now... Harry Potter. —replied the figure, the voice still acute and obviously belonging to a girl of an approximate age to the guy of the scar. Harry observed the figure now close to him, her stature being almost exact to his own and with the hood looking towards the snake. Following the gaze of the young girl, the boy observed the snake, which had now lifted his head towards him, looking into his eyes.
—Excuse me, how...? —asked Harry as he turned his face towards the girl, because he wanted to ask how she knew his name, yet he stopped mid-sentence since the hooded figure was no longer at his side: it had disappeared —. This was strange... —muttered Harry to himself. After a few seconds he returned his gaze towards the snake, and as he didn't had nothing to do, Harry decided to kill time ans begin a conversation with her, even if he knew that the reptile couldn't possibly understand him.
—Please, do excuse Dudley, he doesn't know what is having to endure all day being here, seeing how people stuck their dirty faces to the glass. —he told the reptile. Harry opened his eyes in awe some seconds later, since the snake nodded to what he had said —. Can you understand me? —inquired the child with curiosity, earning another affirmative gesture from the reptile —. Do you usually do this often? Talk to people? —asked Harry. The snake shook its head and the boy with a scar on his forehead set his sight on her tail, since the animal was pointing with it towards a poster that was close to the glass. In the poster Harry could read:
<Boa Constrictor, Brazil.>
—Was it nice that place? Do you have family there? —Harry asked.
The Boa Constrictor pointed once more towards he poster with her tail, and Harry could read: <Specimen bred in captivity.>
—Oh, I see. Then like me: neither I met my parents. —replied Harry with sorrow on his voice. At that exact momento a shrill and serious cry startled Harry.
