Once we were about to land Asensio had given me his contact information along with his Instagram but I already followed it so it didn't do much. Before I walked to checkout Marco hugged me goodbye and told the team to sign my shirt because I was his new friend, according to him.
'Luna, don't forget to text me when you're in Madrid, save your cab fair, I'll pick you up.' Marco smiled and walked away to the connecting flights. I smiled to myself then walked out to baggage claim and collected my suitcase. I was still so overwhelmed from being on a plane with my favorite team that I didn't even notice this little boy standing up with a sign. The sign had my name written in crayon and it made me smile. I recognized him from the photos on Rui's Instagram.
'Irmã.' Rui smiled and pulled me into a big hug. I was such a big fan of the Portuguese soccer team and being able to be related to such a big part of that team made me shed a tear. I was crying and didn't even realize it, and he was too. Once we were done we got into the car.
'Okay, I don't speak great english, desculpa. Vera, my girlfriend, is home getting lunch finished because I had to leave half way through making it. So this is my son João, João diz olá a tua tia.' He turned back speaking to my nephew, to which the little boy just smiled and waved his hands. He was still so young and Rui said he was almost one so I assumed he didn't speak yet.
'So, Rui, I've been learning Portuguese and I'm going to get a lot better once I get the hang of it. Promise.' I smiled at him and he chuckled.
'Claro, leva tempo, it takes some time. Thank you though.' He kept his gaze on the road as João's iPad played some tunes for him to stay calm during the car ride. After we got to his house I settled in and met his girlfriend Vera, who was actually so kind and welcoming. We communicated better than me and Rui because she knew more english. After about one and a half weeks in Portugal, sight seeing and getting to know my brother, he decided to take me to a practice.
'So this is Sporting practice right?' I smiled and he chuckled.
'Confederations Cup is coming up very soon Irmã.' I got a little tensed up.
'So can I wear a jersey, or that would be uncool right? Ha I should just not go how about that?' I smiled slumping onto the bed throwing myself back looking at the ceiling. He laughed and lay next to me.
'You're being a baby, come on be tough. These guys are just like me and any other person. Plus you already met the most important person on the team.' He nudged me and sat back up.
'Whatever you say Irmão.' We had been calling each other brother and sister in Portuguese to give me a better feel for it.
'I'll let you wear one of my jerseys if you want. I'm just saying vans, jeans and shirt would be fine. Caralho-' He cursed trying to finish his sentence but Vera came to the room holding João.
'Sad, in front of the child Rui.' She shamed him and he just rolled his eyes. I laughed and closed my door and got ready. I decided to just wear a plain white v-neck shirt tied on the side, light wash jeans that cuffed at the bottom, and my low top white stripe vans. I smiled at my appearance and headed to the couch to wait for Rui. Vera and João were also coming along which was a treat because Vera and I had gotten so close this past week, and João loved me.
'Alright, vamos equipa!' Rui smiled as we all loaded into the car. Once we got to the stadium I headed to the seat with Vera and my nephew. Rui hugged us goodbye and went to get changed. About ten minutes later the men filed onto the pitch. I was playing patty cake with João and looked up to see them. I smiled giving a thumbs up to Rui and he waved at us making his son giggle.
'Hey! Luna!' Cristiano smiled waving to me. I smiled back and him saying hi resulted in almost all the guys looking up to see me. I was looking at all of the legends when my eyes landed on André Silva. He smiled and went back to his exercises, he was even cuter in person. I turned red and excused myself to use the bathroom because I hadn't gone all day. When I was done I headed back but I stopped in my tracks hearing people speaking. They were speaking in Portuguese but I translated in my head.
'Did you see Patricio's sister! She's so young.' Someone said and I couldn't exactly put a voice to the face so I leaned more to see them. Nani, Cedric, Renato, André Silva, and Quaresma were all talking.
'Yeah but she's closest to my age, so dibs.' Renato said and I fought back a laugh.
'You're a burro, she could have a boyfriend.' Cedric rolled his eyes.
'Relax, like Nani said, she's young guys. Just lay off unless she comes to you. You know how protective Rui was with his cousin.' Quaresma smirked making them all laugh.
'Well, she's cute, but you guys are so right, she's too young.' Andre smiled and they all head back. Damn, there goes that idea.
