Chapter 1
"I'm so glad your coming Bonnie, really it means a lot to me," Lana told me. "How could I not be there for my best friend's wedding?" I said through the phone.
Two days ago
I'm at the store buying groceries, when my phone starts ringing. "This is Bonnie." I say casually,not excpecting what's about to be said. "Bonnie its me! Lana, I hate to tell you this over the phone,but my weddings next week and I want you to be my maid of honor!"
My mouth dropped open. "Oh my gosh Lana, I'm so happy for you! I'm gonna head over to you as soon as possible, I wouldn't miss it for the world!" I said with tears of joy. My best friend is getting married! I can't believe it.
Now
It's in the afternoon, and I'm driving down the hot roads of Arizona with my other best friend, my dad, Dave. It's been a long time since I felt how good being home is.
I was born and raised in Arizona, and by the time all my siblings graduated everyone moved away, but me. I wanted to stay with my friends, but when my mother died, I knew I had to be with my family.
I have 1 twin brother, and 2 older brothers, and they were always closer to our mom than I was. I don't know why, but in my mind I just never had a special bond with my mother.
I feel like I could've been more like myself around my dad.I like to think him and I have a special bond, since I'm his only daughter.He'd always listen to my ideas of what I wanted to do when I grew up, and we always joked about how I'm gonna have to take care of him when he gets old.
But after two years of taking care of my boys, I lost touch with all of my friends. So coming to this wedding is a big deal to Lana and I.
"Now what song?" My dad asked. I smirked at him, "I have the perfect one in mind" I said and leaned over to kiss him on the cheek. Escape, by Rupert Holmes is a song we used to listen to when we I was a kid. He would try to make me dance with him, but I was too embarrassed to.
"I love you, Dad" I said happily. "I love you too, sweetheart." Right now everything is perfect...
