If I had some pearls to give,
Wisdom plucked from this world in which we live,
A world where monsters are hard to forgive,
I would make you a necklace.

The pearls would all be happy things,
Truths about flowers and why angels sing,
How the wind carries the butterflies wings,
And nothing of reality.

I have seen the pearls you've already strung,
On a thin, fraying string that should not hold one,
Where love is hidden in night , like the light of the sun,
And sadness is a truth.

If I had one pearl for you,
I would want you to know, through and through,
That no matter what, you will feel new,
And the past will be the past.
