Move In

Naomi

Naomi! It's time to wait up, sweetie! We have to be on the road less than an hour!

Out of everyone in the house, I'm the one who doesn't like getting up early...especially for long road trips like this one. But, I guess it does have a good outcome to it...finally, I'm going to college. Well, since I'm the last child to finish high school, my mom and dad thought it was best for me to attend college. Since my brother nor my sister didn't go, they thought it would be a nice opportunity for me, to experience the real world. At first, I wasn't planning on going to college. I wanted to go into like the Air Force or something. But, neither one of my parents wanted me to go because of 'stereotypes'. So, my dad said and I quote: "Why not go to college instead, Naomi? With grades like yours, I'm sure they will put you in their best classes." When he decided that, I figured it wasn't no point of arguing him down to let me join the Force so, I went and applied for college. Since we lived in Florida, my dad didn't want me in the colleges there...he wants me to experience more than just Florida. So, once I told him I applied to Princeton, he almost had a heart attack. Mind you, Princeton is a hard school to get into like Yale and Harvard. With there acceptance rate being so low, I didn't think it was no way for me to get in but, one day I went to check the mail and there it was...my acceptance letter and from that day to now...my parents have done nothing but get me all the stuff I need for college and a little extra.

I slowly climed out of bed as I looked at the time. I looked at the bright white screen on my phone reading 5:37 a.m. I groaned as I walked over to the bathroom and turned on the shower. I jumped in and quickly bathe as I know my mom would love rushing me right now. Since I'm still exhausted from moving all the stuff into the car, I yawned as I brushed my teeth. I blow dry my hair and being combing through my hair as I pulled out some causal clothes for today. I grabbed the remaining suitcase in my room and my earphones and charger as well and headed downstairs. I walked in the kitchen and saw my parents...keeping themselves busy as usual. I put my suitcase by the door and sat down at the table.

Ah. There's my college girl. My mom said as she smiled, handing me a plate of food.

Morning, mom.

Are you ready, Nomi? First day of college? My dad said as he was packing things up in the cooler.

I guess I am. Just feels like going back to a schedule school anyway. No big difference.

Major difference, sweetheart. High school is one thing, but college? Is another world. College is where you actually find yourself. I enjoyed...even met your mother there.

I looked up and saw my mom blushing as she walked back to the refrigerator. Maybe he's right...maybe I can actually find who I want to be. Because I'm stuck between two different majors. Biochemistry and Philosophy. Both great majors, a lot of work, but they are both great for careers. We finished up our breakfast and my father loaded the remaining things I had in the car. People may think since I'm attending Princeton that my parents have money or they are just rich. But the truth is, my dad is the CEO of Richardson's Corp. and my mom is a doctor at two of the top hospital in Florida. They don't have big money but it's enough to take care of all three of their children. Since I'm the baby of the family, I don't have to hear the lectures from my parents about doing work or going to work. Seeing my parents struggling to keep my brother and sister in high school, I couldn't even imagine how they would be in college. Just the thought of that scares me. I get in the car with them and the trip begans. Miami, Florida to Princeton, New Jersey.

18 hours later,

My parents where in shock how much this school has put in just for their freshman or as I like to say 'freshmeat'. My whole high school years are about to start over expect with way older and rude people. As we were following the signs that said 'Welcome Freshman' it finally hit me this wasn't going to be like high school...it's going to be way worst. We finally found a parking spot and walked to the main campus. There, they had everything step up. Everyone names were in alphabetical order, getting their keys, and parents helping their child move. I took a deep breath as we were closer to table than I thought. As soon as the people in front of us left, it was my turn.
