Eliana

Light too bright.

Voice too loud.

Couch too hard.

Wait...couch?

As I rolled over on the uncomfortable couch I instantly regretted it as I let out a loud sound mixed between a groan and yelp.

My vision went red with pain as I quickly rolled back over onto my back to stop the shooting pain through my abdomen.

I sat up as slowly and gently as possible, wincing when my stomach pinched in pain.

I lifted my loose white tank top that I don't remember putting on and looked at the bruises on my midsection.

Just then I heard the front door opening and the sound keys jingling.

Brianna walked in with bags of groceries and her expression brightened when she saw me.

"You're awake!" She said dropping the bags and rushing over to me.

"Yes, I'm awake. Wait why? How long have I been asleep?" I asked.

"Well you came home at around 7:30pm yesterday, and it's 4:23pm right now so..." Her voice trailed off.

"I've been asleep for more than twelve hours?!" I shouted, not bothering to actually do the math and find out the exact number of hours.

"Yeah."

"I missed work?!"

"Don't worry, I called in for you." She reassured me.

"Oh, okay." I breathed a sigh of relief.

"You look like shit..." Brianna said.

"Oh thanks, love. You look amazing, too." I said, my voice dripping in sarcasm.

"Well, I'm not the one with a busted lip, bruised chin, eye, forehead and cheek." She said placing her hands on her hips.

I rolled my eyes and stood up slowly, afraid of what else might hurt.

I grimaced anticipating pain to shoot up from any part of my body. However, I was pleasantly surprised when I felt nothing.

After taking some pain killers and sitting down to watch TV, I thought back to the beating and being carried home.

I swear I knew the guy who helped me. I just couldn't place his face for the life of me. My dazed state at the time probably wasn't going to help anything.

"Bri? The guy who brought me home..." I trailed off.

"What was his name?" She teased, smirking.

"Well, I was going to ask who he was because I recognize him from somewhere but I can't remember where." I said, ignoring the fact that she was teasing me.

"He must have been attractive or something." I thought.

"He said his name was Logan. Didn't give a last name." She shrugged, turning her attention back to the television.

"Logan?" I asked.

Then it clicked.

"Ugh!" I groaned.

"I'm Logan." He had said.

'You're supposed to be keeping away from Chris's people, remember?' My mind smirked at me.

"You know him?" Brianna asked, her eyes going wide a bit.

"Yes and no. I know who he is, but I don't know him. He's one of Chris's guys." I explained.
