Your heals clicked on the wooden floor of the gym. Music was blasted from speakers all around the area, along with tables that presented the ever so famous prom cheap punch, and small snacks. You look around for anything you could possibly do except for awkwardly standing there till you would announce the prom kind and queen. Sitting down on the benches for 2 hours didn't seem like a good idea, so you went ahead and walked over to the tables.
A quick skim though the foods presented on the table, suddenly you were no longer hungry. 'If I'm going to eat something, I'm sure not gonna make it to the announcements without bathroom visits like crazy.' you analyzed. You decided you might as well just wait till prom finished, then grab food on the way home. Sighing while walking away from the table, you look up for a split secound, only to meet eyes with your crush and quickly look back down at your heels.
Ever since you have attended your dad'd high school, he was the only guy that you had found attractive. There was some that came close to being decent, but you would dust them off; and kept your eyes on him, Jay Jackson, or his nickname JayJay, sounding like the letter j twice standing for the constant letter in his first and last name. He wasn't the most perfect guy in the school, but he was perfect in your eyes. He was smart, funny, considerate, and had a keen eye for great books. How could you not land a crush on him?? You had always adored him from a distance, scared to walk up to him and talk to him instead.
The second year of high school, Jay got a girlfriend. She was such a beautiful girl. She had all the aspects that Jay possessed, no wonder they would date. At first you thought of her as a goddess, and a idol of some sort, until you saw how she was after school.
On your way home, you saw her in the alley way, beating up one of the girls in your grade. Then the next day, in the same alley way, passionately kissing a random senior. 'I feel bad for Jay; I can't believe she would do such things. And to think she was a the perfect girl, was nothing but a mask she put on....'
Breaking out of your flashback, you stood in the middle of the gymnasium. 'Who knows how long I was stuck thinking about the past. Hopefully I didn't miss the announcement.' Looking down at your phone screen, it said 8:25pm. 'Wow that was great timing. Just 5 more minutes till they start.'
After prom, half an hour later
You walked out tightly gripping your phone in hand. You looked around for your dad's car you drove to the school. Usually he doesn't lend his car out, but after a bit of persuasion he allowed it. It was fairly dark then, so you had to squint your eyes to even see the outline of the car. Walking over, you saw Jay and his girlfriend separating ways, and bidding their goodbye's. Not realizing how long you've been watching; you accidentally make eye contact with his girlfriend.
For some reason, she started to walk up to you. You quickly tried to get to your car, not long after she caught your wrist right when you got to the front door. You slowly turned around, only to get an unexpected uppercut. "Ah shit." You mumbled under your breath, on the ground, gripping the knob for dear life. She then grabs your neck, pushing you onto the hood of the car. "Hey bitch, will you stop looking at my man like you wanna fuck him. Keep your eyes off, or you'll wish you were dead." She threatened. There is no time in your life where you had done something out of your comfort-zone. 'Well, I don't wanna die knowing I couldn't back myself up, even on a 1 vs 1 situation. I don't care anymore, this girl is a bitch anyways.' You gathered your confidence and proudly responded, "You said he was your man, yet you with other guys on the side without him knowing. Doesn't sound like loyalty to me." At this point, you could practically see vein's popping out of her forehead, which was kinda disgusting. She threw you on the ground, scratching you on the arm during the process. "Don't suddenly act like you're worth something Rosé, or should I say Mary Sue. Even though, underneath you are a mess, a fuckup you don't want others to know about." Opening your eyes, you efficiently kicked the back of her knee, making her drop to the ground beside you. "Looks like our lives aren't that different. After all, you can't act like your life has been the best either." You said, looking at your wounded calf, resulting in you not being able to get up. She then gets up, with only minor scratches. Looking over you in disgust, she kicks ur stomach and walks away; satisfied with her work.
