The town was small. Smaller than I had expected, actually. It held four shops. A café, a pizza place, a little clothes shop, and a bookstore.

They all looked a little older, even the pizza place, that, according to the sign, was called Pepperoni Palace. I didn't go in there, though. Instead, I made my way down to the little clothes store.

Walking in, I expected cute dresses, some fashionable tops and maybe even designer jeans. What I got was ugly hats, old person smell and clothes my great grandma would wear to church. If the little bell on the door hadn't had rang, I would've snuck out before anyone saw me.

Instead, I looked around, hopeful for the smallest hint of clothing closer to my age range. No luck. A little old lady waddled out of the backroom and looked at me with a welcoming smile.

I gave a smile back, trying to be as genuine as I could. "Hello!" she chirped, walking up the the register that desperately needed to be duested. "Hi," I responded, walking over to the ugly hats hanging on the wall.

"See anything you like?" I shook my head, tracing the lines in a small green one. She padded her way over to me and grabbed some dark brown hat off a shelf, before popping it onto my head.

Before I could respond, another old lady walked out the backroom. Unlike the women standing in front of me, she had black hair rather than grey. "That hat looks adorable on you!" the one with the black hair squealed in excitement.

I nodded and took it off, before walking to the register to buy it.

The first old lady stood there, leaning against the counter while I place the hat in front of her, getting my wallet out of my back pocket in the process.

"Do you actually like it?" the black haired asked.

I nodded.

"Okay, good. I didn't want to make you buy anything just because I liked it!"

Nodded again.

"Did you just move here?"

Nod.

"Has everything been going well?"

Nod.

"How many people have you met yet?"

I stopped for a moment and fiddled with my wallet. "One, then you two. So three," I mumbled, watching her ring up the ugly hat. She nodded, while the first old lady smiled.

"So you can speak," she cooed. I gave her a small smile. "Well, yeah." They stopped speaking all together while the black haired old lady rang the ugly hat up, put her hand out, took the money, then handed me the hat.

I thanked them before quickly shuffling away. Right before I could get out the door, the black hair said, "My name's Mai. And this is Christy."

"I'm Paige." It felt weird giving my middle name. I used to go by Hazeline, but that was before I left. I have a new life to live now.

This time I won't mess it up.

Once I finally got out the door, I walked towards the direction of the pizza place. The plan is to order an extra cheesy pizza, take it home, eat some and then go to sleep.

Unfortunately I don't have a mattress, so I'll be sleeping on the floor tonight.

While walking, I looked down at my phone to check the time, then collided with something.

"Hey!"
