Mason sits at his desk tapping a pen against the report that was due in a few days. Most of his classes happened to be either at night or in the early morning, but due to his morning sickness, the past couple of weeks have been hectic. He'd missed multiple lectures and had to listen to the classes online, which was a pain to begin with since the lectures were so unbelievably boring he couldn't even sit through one.
Huffing out a breath of air, Mason rubs his stomach, glancing out his window to distract himself a bit. Ben had been acting a bit suspicious both yesterday and today. Mason thought it was just because of the weird appointment they had together, after all Ben was severely confused and worried about that.
Mason felt the worst out of the two though. He was still experiencing the stomach pains, and his anxiety levels were through the roof. He felt stupid and stressed.... just everything mixed up into this huge emotion he couldn't put a name to. He had begun to take the vitamins and medication, which did help with the sharp pains a little, now it was more of an ache. He could only hope it would work like magic.
Pushing back his chair, Mason heads over to his bed where a couple of text books lay. He really didn't feel like studying, but he also really needed to catch up.
"Mason?" Ben calls through the apartment.
"Yeah?" he yells back, flicking through the pages.
"You have a visitor!"
Mason frowns. No one usually came to their apartment. Actually, now that he thought about it, his friends probably didn't know where he lived...
"Coming!"
Rubbing his back, which was also aching, Mason waltzes out his room and down the hall, the floor squeaking quietly. Who would have dropped by for a visit? He didn't exactly have a long list of friends –
Mason pauses as he enters the open area,
"Mum..."
Maria stands by the front door, her handbag posed on the crook of her arm, a sad frown across her face.
"Mason." She greets in a quiet, but deadly stern tone.
Mason doesn't even have the time to come up with a response. e
"I have been calling you, and leaving you messages! I even called the apartment phone and you never answered that either! Not until Ben kindly invited me over. He didn't even know I had been contacting you."
Mason shoots a glare towards Ben, who was hiding away in the kitchen.
Ben takes a sip from a glass of water, shaking his head in denial at the accusation, before sneaking down the hallway to his own bedroom.
"Look, Mum, I know I haven't been in contact – "
"Haven't been in contact? Mason! You're the one that has been avoiding me like the plague!" She takes a step forward, making Mason retreat slightly into himself.
"If it wasn't for Ben telling me – "
"Telling you what?" Mason interrupts, a flicker of anger rising.
Mrs Fain stands firm, her lips pursed, "He told me about your fights with Jack. And I was just thinking, that maybe it would be a good idea for you to have that operation--"
"Not this again." Mason rubs his forehead, the stress beginning to give him a headache.
"It would bring everyone a peace of mind!"
"It's not your decision to make!" Mason tries to argue, a frown creasing his forehead.
"Mason! Listen to me. I love you very much, but have you thought of how you're going to do this? So many things can go wrong! Especially in your situation. Do you even know what to do with yourself once a child is here?" she whisper yells the last bit, glancing precariously at the hallway.
