Ain't I hot?
..
Andre stopped running when they got to the end of the hallway. Candy was breathing hard as if she had just finished a four hundred meter sprint.
"What was that about?" She asked taking a breath after every word.
"What?"
"The whole taking off your shirt and displaying your abs thing."
"Oh that. Got a problem with it?" Andre asked smirking.
"Couldn't you just wait to get to your locker, get a clean shirt and then change in the boys locker room?"
"Naah."
Candy gave him a 'are you being serious right now?' look.
"What?" Andre questioned innocently.
She glared at him and said, "Nerd...", dragging the word.
" Okay. I'll tell when I'm ready."
"If you say so. Whatever." Candy said, swaying her hand in dismissal. They stood in silence. It was Candy who broke it.
"Put a shirt on please."
Andre stood in front of her and smirked.
"Nerd..."
"What? Ain't I hot?"
"That's not the point."
"Okay? Shoot."
"The principal will be here any minute."
"Fine." Andre huffed in disappointment. He opened his locker, took out a white shirt and wore it. Candy just looked at him as he buttoned up. Then he stopped when there were just three top buttons left.
"Do the rest." Candy said with a sigh of exasperation.
"Why?" Andre asked, raising a brow and cocking his head to one side.
"Just. Do. It."
Andre smirked and said, "Make me."
Candy reached out to do them for him. She didn't even know why she was making such a big deal out of it. But then, Andre wrapped an arm around her waist and pulled her close. Their faces were just about three centimeters apart.
"Get off." Candy said trying to push him away but his hands were just too strong for her attempts.
"Why?" Andre asked still smirking and his breath fanning her face.
Just then the warning bell rang and Candy sighed again. Andre was not shaking or going anywhere. Instead he looked at her, straight in the eyes, his hazel eyes locking with her green ones. Candy looked at him too and felt something like a rush of electricity course through her veins.
She looked away.
"Say something woman. Look at me and say something." Andre whispered into her ear, making her feel giddy. He tried not to show the effect her green eyes were having on him and he did a very good job at that.
Candy braced herself, looked at his neck, not his face cause she couldn't, and said,
"I thought nerds were supposed to be shy?"
Andre smirked more and Candy wondered if his face was not hurting already from all that smirking. He said,
"Well who says I'm a nerd?"
Candy looked every where but at him until she heard him say,
"Now now, my dear Sweet, we have a class. English to be precise an we don't wanna let our teacher get in before us now, do we?"
Candy didn't say a word.
Andre turned her around and started walking towards English class.
He kept his hand firm on her waist as people stared at them.
When they got to the class and to their seats Andre acted as the perfect gentleman, opened her chair for her to seat down. They earned stares from other students and some girls just kept staring at Andre.
Yep. He was now the newest hot guy in school.
The teacher came in, apologized for her lateness and began the lesson buy reminding them of their due projects.
Andre moved his head close to Candy's and whispered ,
"So... Sweets or Sugar. Which one do you like?"
Candy took out her scrap book and wrote, "For what? Don't tell me you are looking for a nickname for me."
"No Lolly. I mean a title for our story."
"Oh. Am I not to read it first before I pick one?"
"Just trust me woman. Trust my expertise. They two titles go its just, I want you to pick whatever name sounds nice to you."
They made the whole conversation through the scrap book. Until they felt the teacher's silence.
"Mr. Downs and Miss Summers? Is there anything you want to share with the class?"
All eyes in the class fell on the two of them.
"Detention. Both of you. Now get out of my class."
Without any word, the both of them stood up, picked their bags and went out.
They had messed with the wrong tiger. Candy walked away from Andre but he caught up with her again.
"I'm sorry." Andre said.
"For what exactly?"
"Getting us kicked out?"
"Oh its fine. I actually didn't want to stay in the class anyway."
"Oh. Okay. So..."
"Janitor's closet."
Candy didn't wait for a reply before she started walking. Andre followed closely behind.
When they got into the closet, it was pretty tight as they both tried to fit in noiselessly.
Andre was about to pull out his phone when Candy accidentally bumped into him, her face hitting his white shirt. Andre then said,
"You know maybe today is just my ' go shirtless ' day."
Candy couldn't see his face but she could already hear the smirk and mischief in his voice. She could feel the heat their breaths created as they fanned each other's faces with their breaths. From what she could feel, if Andre leaned down just a little bit, they would be having a moist conversation.
"Hey." Andre whispered
"What?" She whispered back.
"Can I tell you something?"
"Sure."
"I'm not what you think I am."
Candy was about to reply Andre n the bell rang.
"What did he mean by not being what I think he is?"
Well, she had to wait to find out.
