The Prologue

Love, such a foolish thing. So simple, so annoyingly blunt and ignorant, yet it fascinates me, baffling my mind with how it's held with such value to everyone around me, but not I.

Maybe I was simply not meant for such things. Perhaps I'm so broken that I can not be put back together, or could it be that love alone is unable to thaw my frozen heart.

I let out a soft seemingly silent sigh as I closed my book and glanced around the prison I was to rot away in, spending the rest of my days reading about things I would never experience myself, not while being confined to these walls.

I had made many mistakes in my past and the longer I was locked away the more I felt the burning of regret deep inside my gut. I of course would keep this to myself, this disgusting feeling inside, this weakness. Lying came so easily to me, so I didn't struggle to hide it or any other emotions I felt.

I stood up from my place on the floor placing my book on the small end table Frigga had aquired for me. She had made sure I was comfortable. I didn't deserve her love.

I closed my eyes and imagined her beautiful motherly smile and the comforting way she had held me when I was a child. I only wish I was really her son.

My imagings were cut short when I heard the loud clanking of armor entering the prison. The guards were most likely bringing in a new prisoner.

I didn't pay much attention to the other prisoners and they didn't dare cross me either. It was a mutual agreement of ignorance.

I heard the clanking and jingling of chains, which only confirmed my theory.

I wonder over to the light goldish barrier that keep me locked inside my cell, a bit curious of the new guest.

The noises grew louder as they got nearer and finally I caught sight of the guards, but they temporarily blocked my view of the new comer, much to my displeasure.

The guards creeped closer seeming to be figuring out which cell to put this person in.

Then finally they came to my cell the guard barely giving me a glance as a soft smirk formed on my lips.

I was still unable to see who this person was, but the other prisoners had gotten at look at whoever it was. They were shouting profanity and whistling like dogs. This lead me to believe this new prisoner must be a woman.

I rolled my eyes, my interest suddenly diminishing as I turned back to my cell, but as I was turning I caught a glimpse of this woman. Long black hair flowing loose around her, big icey blue eyes, and surprisingly she was quite short and petite.

She looked less a threat then a simple midgardian rabbit and her perfectly smooth skin held no scars of battle, yet she was heavily chained and muzzled much like I had been upon my arrival.

Who was this woman and why was she here?

A spark of intrigue lit up my mind as I watched the guards shove her roughly into the cell across from me, one that been empty until now.
