Chapter 9
I literally couldn't take this universe anymore, so I had to do something that probably wasn't even going to work.
Tell Mae what the hell was going on.
If I was going to figure out how to get back to my regular life, I had to talk to Mae about it because I was going to need some help.
It was shortly before the Princes were going to get out from school, and Mae's aunt was at work so I figured that would be the perfect time. Mae was currently in the kitchen, getting something to eat, so I waled over to her. "I really need your help," I said.
"With what?" Mae asked, grabbing a bag of chips from the cupboard to pour into a bowl.
"With something really confusing and hard to believe," I said. "I wouldn't even doubt it if you don't believe me."
"Jerome, come on, of course I'll believe you," Mae said.
She totally wasn't going to believe me.
"I already lived this life before," I said. "I was twenty-two, I made a stupid wish, and now here I am, a teenager again."
Mae stopped what she was doing and looked at me for a bit, trying to figure out if I was serious or not. After a while of debating, she put the bag of chips onto the counter so she could give me her full attention. "So you're telling me that you somehow went back in time?"
"Yes."
"Yeah, you're right, I don't believe you."
"See?" I asked. "It's hard to believe, but I just need you to be open about it because I really don't know what to do anymore. I can't live through all that crap again. You can even ask me anything I don't know about right now."
"Okay, let's say it is true," Mae said. "What's the name of the studio Ryder is in? And all the team members? And the owner?"
"Oh, crap, that was a while ago," I said. "Well, I know it's D.A.N.C.E, and there's Ryder....Isla, Arthur, Dempsey, Marnie, Amelia, and Milton. Oh, and June. She replaces you until you come back, then she's the alternate. And the head is Lilith."
"Oh, wow," Mae said. "Uh....Yeah, that's all right. Okay, let's test this more. What is the sex of the baby Poppy's currently carrying? And the name?"
"It's a girl, and her name will be Rose," I said.
"It's actually a boy," Mae said.
"Oh, right, Poppy thought it was a boy, but the technician got it wrong," I said. "It's actually a girl. Oh, but it's alright, because they have another boy afterwards and use that name, which is William. They also have another girl, Lilac. They really love babies."
"You know, the more you talk, the more I actually start to believe you," Mae said. "I doubt you would be making this up just because."
"See?"
"Okay, one more thing," Mae said. "What happens with me and Ryder?"
"You know, actually, this timeline is a little bit messed up," I said. "You and Ryder never broke up before you moved away, so he never dated April. Orchid never dated Felix, Alan wasn't a homophobe, and Nolan never dated Janelle. Speaking of, that's the main reason I wanted to come down here because I could not let Nolan date Janelle."
"Really?" Mae asked. "None of that happened originally?"
I nodded. "Yep. Oh, and to answer your question, Ryder proposes to you at Internationals, and you get married two days after your birthday, and he's always asking you to have a baby but you want to wait until after university. So now, at twenty-two, you're pregnant. With twins. Boys, to be exact. And the due date is soon."
