Jack woke up and took a shower. After which, he jogged down the stairs. Pitch and North were already gone but North left scrambled eggs and toast on the table.

It was the first day of school. Jack felt uneasy at the thought of being ignored again. He didn't want people to give him a hard time. He felt optimistic at the thought of seeing Rapunzel again. Talking to her was the best part of his day and the streak of light shining on his life. She and North shared that.

He gathered his books and notebooks and stuffed them in his backpack. He walked to the bus stop to see a crowd of teenagers excitedly chattering around it. He knew the type of treatment he was going to get so he just sat down by the end of the line a put a hood over his head so that people won't notice him and start whispering again.

He sighed at the thought of being an outsider. He felt a familiarity towards that feeling, which he wasn't used to.

He noticed that Rapunzel wasn't on the bus ride and just thought that he'd see her later. He figured a good school girl like her wouldn't miss any day of the school year, especially not the first day.

He boarded off the bus and stared at the big building that intimidated Jack. He gripped tighter on one strap of his backpack and gulped, hastily entering.

"Find a partner."

Those three words sent shivers down his spine as his eyes darted the room for a potential Chemistry partner. He approached a brunet boy who timidly tried to avoid eye contact.

"You want to be partners?" Jack asked. The scrawny boy looked up at him in surprise.

"What? Me?"

"Yeah."

"Jack Overland? You're asking me to be your partner?"

"Uhm..." Jack shifted in place. People seemed to stress on his name all the time. "Yeah, it's totally cool if you don't want to, though. I get it."

"No! It's fine, sorry, I'm just taken aback a bit."

Jack smiled and sets down his bag on the floor and sits on the stool next to him.

"I'm sorry, I don't really know your name."

"I'm Hiccup Haddock." The boy mumbled, praying his name won't scare Jack off.

"Neat name." Jack arranged his Chemistry book on the table.

---

Lunch rolled around and Hiccup offered that he'd be welcome to sit with him and his best friend, Merida. Much to Hiccup's surprise, Jack enthusiastically jumped at the chance.

Merida's eyebrows rose as she saw Hiccup walking with Jack Overland. She crossed her arms and huffed, recalling all the unpleasant encounters she's had with the boy.

"Merida! You remember Jack." Hiccup beamed at Merida, who had distasteful facade.

"Very much." Merida scowls. "I remember when he gave ye a wedgie."

Jack knitted his eyebrows together. He never thought he was capable of an act so cruel.

"Merida, Jack has amnesia. He forgot everything he's been or done before the accident." Hiccup sets his tray down. "Be nice."

Merida bit down on her apple, staring intently at Jack.

"Hiccup told me you're from Scotland." Jack said nervously.

"Wha' gave it away?" Merida rolled her eyes. She had the flag of Scotland as her bag and an unmistakable, thick accent riddled all over her speech.
