Deal?

"He's looking at you again", Anna said, nudging me. I glance back and lo and behold he WAS looking at me!  Chase Rivers had, ever since Alicia Grey's suit and tie party last week, taken a keen interest in me  and for the life of me I couldn't figure out why. Maybe it was my new haircut. Last week I had, after much begging and pleading, been allowed to cut and style my hair. I had a thing for short hair. My mom, however, did not.

I slowly turned around again. He was sitting on a bench at the far end of the cafeteria, surrounded by his usual posse. He was munching on a sandwich and listening to his friend Alex Fisher. He turned in my direction and caught me staring at him. He smirked and winked at me. I blushed and turned back.

After lunch was fine arts. My favourite class, despite having the meanest teacher in the entire school. I take a seat in the third bench and wait for class to begin.

"Damn.", Mr. David entered class swearing. "why is it that i'm always stuck with the fu--", then realising where he was, he stopped. "Sorry 'bout that", he said with his thick Australian accent. He was nearly thirty but had the experience of a fifty year old. He was pretty good-looking too if you're into older guys. Today he was wearing neatly pressed khaki pants and a navy blue shirt tucked in.

"Today we , unfortunately, have a new student with us", he said gesturing towards the door. All of us eagerly looked at the door to see Cole Adams. I begin to sink into my seat. Please don't sit next to me, I silently pray. He moved and took a seat behind me. Before I could let out a sigh of relief, he leaned forward and whispered into my ear, "It's not that I didn't want to take that seat"

The whole class I spent trying to concentrate. I was not successful. I didn't turn around , but I knew that Cole was staring at the back of my head, willing me to turn around. To add to this, his cologne was so intoxicating that I began to feel sick.

I just about make to the end of the class and as soon the bell rang I was the first one out of my seat.

I was too distracted to notice that I bump into Alex. "Hey! Watch it!", he began yelling but on seeing who I was, he stopped. He began smiling that sinister smile of his, and told me," Chase has been looking for you, you know ."

I had had just about enough of being associated with Chase without ACTUALLY being associated with him!

"So?", I ask angrily, " Is that supposed to make a difference to me?" Then without waiting for an answer, I say," No I didn't think so. I have no interest in him and I never will .If he was on fire and I had the last glass of water, I would drink it!"

"I don't think you would've.", an all too familiar voice said behind me. " Besides....I really was looking for you. I heard that your friend Charlie is in charge of the tickets for the school dance and I needed to speak to him." "So which innocent girl are you planning on conning into going to the dance with you?",I asked curtly. "Your friend Anna actually. She's kinda hot ", he said smiling sweetly.

Anna definitely was hot. I'm not talking about super slutty or drop dead gorgeous or whatever, but she definitely could stop you in your tracks. The problem was she didn't like Chase. At all.

"Well she won't go with you.", I said confidently.

Chase contemplated over my proposition. Finally, with a smirk , he said, " Sweetheart, I could honestly have an girl on the face of the planet that I wanted. Do you really think I can't win her over? I bet I can nail her in a week."

"Chase, she is not your ordinary Megan Fox.", I said. " You don't have what it takes to get her. She is way outta your league."

" Outta my league?", he said, laughing. "How about a wager? I say that I can get Anna to come to the school dance as my date. If I win, you have yo go with Leroy Wilson. But if I lose, I go with you. Deal?"

I look over to where Leroy is standing, hunched over a calculus book twice as big as him. Spectacles perched on his nose, as he scans the page in front of him. When he noticed me looking at him, he began to wave.

"Deal", I said confidently. I had no doubt in my mind that Anna would say 'no'.
