~~~~~~~~~~"This resumé is a joke!" Nola was sat on a couch in her friend's apartment, which also happened to be just a floor above hers.
Kenna sits beside her and sets down two beers on the coffee table before looking over the resumé. "Half of this is unimpressive and the other half is completely made up," she scoffs, agreeing with Nola.
"Who the fuck actually thinks that being able to tie their own shoes since they were nine years old belongs in the 'skills' section of their resumé?" Nola rolls her eyes and takes a sip of her beer.
"And who would believe that he actually wrote a song for the Beatles? Such bullshit," Kenna laughs.
"How did he even get this job?" Nola laughs, shaking her head.
"I guess that's what having famous parents gets you," Kenna shrugs. "But he's not even close to being as qualified as you are."
"Thanks for letting me come over and making me feel better," Nola smiles, feeling comforted by Kenna's participation in making fun of Colin's resumé. "I shouldn't have even asked since you got me this interview and it went horribly," she sighs.
"Come on, it did not go horribly. I mean, you kind of got the job, right? We'll still be working in the same department at the same company for at least a few months," Kenna smiles, attempting to comfort her. "And your writing is absolutely amazing. Tony will see that and he'll hire you over Colin eventually."
"God, I hope so," Nola sighs and glances at the resumé again. "I can't believe Colin actually thought he was showing off by shoving this resumé into my hands. He just embarrassed himself.""Yes, he did, but you still have to get over it. You're going to have to work with him to get information to write your articles," Kenna points out. "Allow yourself to be less miserable by trying not to hate him so much."
"Yeah, you're right," Nola sighs and nods. "Hating someone takes up too much energy anyways. Want to head to work together tomorrow?"
"I can't. I have to run some errands before work so I'll just meet you there," Kenna says as Nola gets her things to head back to her apartment. "But just try not to think about him, okay?"
Next Morning, 9:30 A.M.
Nola had been on time and had even gotten her assignment from Tony and decorated her small office in the half an hour she'd been waiting for Colin to arrive. He was late, which shouldn't have surprised her.
She grabbed a granola bar from her bag and took a bite of it while she researched her topic on her laptop. It was only then that Colin decided to arrive and stop by her office.
"Hey Granola," Colin smirks as he leans against the door of the small office, watching her. "Get it? Nola, Granola.. That's bloody genius."
Nola couldn't resist the urge to roll her eyes before turning in her chair to face him. "You're late. Tony's not too happy about it and you don't even know our assignment yet," she says, arms crossed over her chest.
"Chill, brownie. I'm here now and Tony said you could just catch me up," Colin rolls his eyes this time and leans against her desk.
"Don't call me that. It's offensive," Nola glares at him angrily.
"Why? Don't like your own skin color?" Colin shoots back, easily ignoring her glare.
Nola just shook her head and looked down at her little notebook. "We got the worst assignment ever. We have to follow the Kardashian-Jenners around all day and report on what they're doing as well as what they post on their social media today. Clearly Tony is making us start at the bottom and work our way up."
"Hey, don't talk about those girls like that. They're really hot," Colin says, causing Nola to roll her eyes again. "If you keep doing that, your eyes are going to get stuck like that.""Whatever. Let's just go follow them and see what they're doing and write the stupid article," Nola sighs and stands up.
"You know, if you don't want to write this article, you can go to Tony right now and tell him you give up already," Colin smirks.
"If you keep smirking, your mouth is going to get stuck like that," Nola mocks him from earlier. "And no way. This is going to be the easiest article to write ever."
"Oh yeah? We'll see about that. Let's go," Colin grins at her. "May the best writer win."
