Shalam, there are many people who love the things in this world and are friends with the world. It is important to know the God of this world wants you to serve him so you can be pulled away from the Most High God who loves you. Majority of the people must understand that its OK to want something, but its another thing to love something, the majority of the people in the world love the things in it and that's why they have no understanding of the Most High God.

James 4:4  Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

Precept to James 4:4:
Gaatians 1:10 For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.

Friend - 1. Make friends to become friendly (with).
2. An archaic word for to befriend.
Befriend - to make friends  or become friendly with; act as a friend  to; help; aid.

Befriend - to make friends  or become friendly with; act as a friend  to; help; aid.

Enmity - A feeling of hostility or ill will, as between enemies; antagonism.

Enemy - A person who feels hatred for, fosters harmful designs against, or engages in antagonistic activities against another; an adversary or opponent.

Matthew 6:19-21  Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
20  But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
21  For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Treasures - 1. Wealth, rich materials, or valuable things.
2. To regard or treat as precious; cherish.

Precepts to Matthew 6:19:
Proverbs 23:4  Labour not to be rich: cease from thine own wisdom.

1 Timothy  6:17  Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not  highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God,
who giveth us  richly all things to enjoy;

Hebrews 13:5  Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will  never leave thee, nor  forsake thee.

Precepts to Matthew 6:20:
Matthew 19:21  Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.

Luke 12:23  The life is more than meat, and the body is more than raiment.

1 Timothy 6:19  Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.

1 Peter 1:4  To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,

We are instructed to not lay treasure upon earth, but in heaven. You see when you see a man laying up treasure here on earth one must understand that there is where his heart is, like verse 21 says. Our wealth must be consecrated to The Most High God and used as his work demands. Wealth used for doing good is treasure laid up in heaven.

Romans 12:2  And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and
acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Conformed - 1. To act in accordance or harmony; comply.
2. To act in accord with the prevailing standards, attitudes, practices, etc., of society or a group.

Precepts to Romans 12:2:
John 7:7  The world cannot hate you; but me it hateth, because I testify of it, that the works thereof are evil.

Galatians 1:4  Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father:

Ephesians 2:2  Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:

1 Peter 1:14  As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your  ignorance:

Scriptures tells us to be not conformed to the things who this world, meaning we are not suppose to follow the custom of this world, neither in judgment, spirit, nor behaviour, because as  scriptures has told us that "For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God" 1 Corinthians 3:19.

Colossians 3:2  Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

Affection - 1. Emotion, feeling, or sentiment:
2. Fond attachment, devotion, or love.

We are to set our affection on things  above which is the kingdom of Heaven, and not on things here on earth. Read Matthew 6:19-20 to see why.

1 John 2:15-17  Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
16  For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
17  And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

Love - To have a strong liking for; take great pleasure in.

Precepts to 1 John 2:15:
Matthew 6:24   No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love  the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the  other. Ye cannot  serve God and mammon.

Galatians 1:10  For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.

Proverbs 10:25  As the whirlwind passeth, so is the wicked no more: but the righteous is an  everlasting foundation.

We are to not love this world, neither the things in it. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. We must overcome the world, like the Messiah did, if we love this world the love of the Father isnt in us. This world is sinful and is given into the hand of the wicked.
