"Are you really telling me nothing happened?" Melody asked for the tenth time in a row.

I kept nodding but I knew deep down Mel couldn't be fooled. She knew something was up the minute I opened the door. I looked at her and tried to sound as convincing as possible when I repeated the words I uttered for the first time half an hour ago.

"I'm just exhausted. It was pretty intense. The director made me run around the place and it was tiring."

"Maybe, but you don't look exhausted to me. You look upset!"

"Please! Me? Why I should I be upset? Remember I called you on Thursday. I told you I couldn't wait to get home, why would I be upset now?"

"Something happened. I know you too well, Jo. You can't hide from me. Eventually I'll find out. Or, better yet, just tell me."

"Tell you what, Mel?"

"Why you look like a lost puppy."

I sighed but a knock on my door saved me. For once I was glad my mom was prying into my life.

"Honey, you're back? I thought you would come home on Monday. Is everything okay?"

"Sure mom. I just asked for things to move faster in London because of that photoshoot I have on Monday, remember?"

"Oh, yea. You're right. I almost forgot about it."

"Anyway, I'll talk to you later, okay?"

I closed and locked the door and turned my attention to Melody again.

"Listen, nothing happened. I went there, did my job, and I'm happy I'm back. End of story."

"If you say so!" She said with a smug look upon her face. "Did you get to talk to Tom about, you know..."

"No, I couldn't reach him."

Quite frankly I didn't think he would support my idea and I was looking for ways to distract Mel so she would forget about it. But of course that wouldn't happen. On the other hand, what better way to show her I didn't enjoy this trip then bringing her along to the actual video shoot so she can see for herself?

"You know what? I'll call him right now." I said optimistically.

I quickly dialed his number and put the call on speaker while I silently prayed it wouldn't go to voice mail.

Hey Jo, how was London?

Good, really good! Listen, I'm calling to ask for a favor.

Anything for you. Tell me, what is it?

I was hoping you could arrange for my friend to join me on the trip back to London next month.

She's a fan?

Yes, but she's civilized.

I glanced over to Mel and gave her a warning look.

I'll see what I can do, but it shouldn't be a problem.

Are you going to be there?

Um, I'd have to check, but if you want me to I could make the time.

That would be great, Tom!

Consider it done! I'll see you later.

Yes, thanks again. Bye!
