Chapter 1
My group has never been apart for more than a week until now. One day ago we were all together at school waiting for the bell to ring so we could go hang out at Cherry Berries. It finally rang and everybody speed walked to their lockers. They always finished before me, and then they always come by my locker.
Robin is very intelligent and likes to play sports. No, he's not cute, but he has a great personality. Alex loves soccer and basketball. Molly, has a huge crush on Alex, she is also the least athletic of the group and the most girly. Amy-Lee is strong but is sensitive. Amy loves music, music is her life. Leo is hilarious, and is very athletic. Lily is probably my favorite person on the entire earth. She is fUnny, adorable, and is my soccer buddy.
Here they come.
"Hey Emily!" they said one after another.
"Hey,you guys. Are you guys ready?"
"Yep."
"Let's go."
"Wait you guys, Alex and I are not ready yet. Can you wait for us?" said Amy-Lee worriedly.
"We will go slowly, just catch up with us."
"Ok, will do." Amy tried to say before we were all out of the doors. About three minutes away from Cherry Berries, I looked behind us and I saw Amy-Lee and Alex running trying to catch up with us, but after what felt like a couple of seconds, my brain went to work and I knew what was going to happen. So I sprinted as fast as possible, but it was too late. The van had stopped and grabbed Amy-Lee and Alex. I was still running trying to read the license plate, but I was too far away to see.
I dropped to my knees and just cried there for ten minutes, trying to think of what just happened. I called the police and somebody else had already called. They were already on the highway trying to find them. They have had bad luck so far on the search.
I felt a hand on each of my shoulders; I looked up and see Lily and Molly. Behind them were Leo and Robin. They were all as shocked as me at what just happened. People started coming out of their houses and were asking what happened.
I couldn't talk, anger filled me so fast, and I just ended crying more. I don't remember much of what happened next, but I do know that my dad came to get me and carried me to our car. I couldn't move from the position I dropped to when I knew I couldn't catch up to the van. I was trembling. After about three hours that I locked myself in my room, I picked up my phone and it said that I had thirty messages. They were all asking how I was and if I ever need to talk that they are there for me.
I texted the group and asked them if I had imagined what had happened. They answered in less than a minute confirming what I did not want to be confirmed.
A question hit me, was I ever going to see Alex and Amy-Lee again? Then another thing hit me, if I had just waited for them, this never would have happened. I felt like crying all over again, but I knew it was pointless. I also knew I had to be the tough one out of my group. I was always the one that knew what to do in bad times. I was the one that cried the least. I needed to be strong for my friends and for me.
So I got up out of my bed and took one step out of my room and I couldn't hold it in anymore. I cried as I tried to walk downstairs. I needed to think of something else for a while. I couldn't take it anymore. I got to the TV remote and turned on the news. It was all over the news as well. So much for that idea, I went to the one thing other than friends that always cheers me up, soccer. I shot goals so hard; I burned a hole in my net. All that the hole showed me was that I have a hole in my life now that Amy-Lee and Alex are gone. I called Leo, Robin, Lily and Molly to see if they wanted to come over. They were all over five minutes later because they live in my cul-de-sac. We didn't smile a lot, but we did talk a lot. They asked how I knew what was going to happen and how I knew to at least try to run. I didn't know how to explain it so I asked if everybody was going to school tomorrow. They said probably, just to get their minds off of what had happened.
