"I thought you took your sister to that dinner." Reed said as he dropped a magazine on the table in front of Aidan.

"She didn't want to. I took Charlie." He replied with a raised eyebrow, looking at the magazine infront of him.

"Open it to the marked page." Reed said, sitting. Aidan turned it open and saw a picture of himself and Charlie at the dinner. Surrounding it were more pictures of the two of them from various other outings they haas taken, either alone or with the kids.

"How long have you two been seeing each other." Reed asked, looking over his glasses at Aidan.

"Since the dinner." He answered, reading the article, the author didn't know who Charlie was, which Aidan found comforting.

"The dinner in August? You didn't say anything for four months about having a girlfriend?"

"I don't see what the big deal is Reed."

"The big deal Aidan, is that I don't think you are in a place in your career when you can have a steady girlfriend, much less one with kids. The only reason you haven't left LA yet is because it makes sense for you to stay until the premiere of There and Back Again. After that you'll be gone for months doing publicity, once that's done you'll have to do it all over again for your new project. Do you really want her to hate you for never being around."

"I think we can make it work."

"I just don't want your heart to get broken." Reed said, opening his menu.

Aidan's chest felt heavy for the rest of the day. He hadn't thought so far in advance. He was so caught up with Charlie and the kids that it hadn't occurred to him that he would have to leave soon. In his heart he knew he couldn't ask her to uproot her family and follow him around while he works. He also knew that even if he did ask her, she wouldn't take the kids away from their grandmother, she was all that was left of their family.

As he laid in Charlie's bed, waiting for her to return, he knew they had to talk about this, and the idea of it made him feel sick.

She walked in the room, glass of water in hand. He cleared his throat and sat up.

"Charlie, there's something I think we need to talk about." He said quietly.

She sighed and sat next to him. "I know what your going to say. I've been waiting for you to bring it up. I'm not going to ask you to stay, because I know you can't, and we can't go with you."

Aidan felt his eyes well up as he thought about not seeing them anymore.

"If you want to, you can still call Logan and Daisy. They'd be heart broken of they never got to talk to you again."

"What if we tried long distance?" He whispered.

"It's a nice idea, Aidan, but I don't know if I could do that, it's hard enough to plan dates with you when your here, I foresee a lot of missed phone calls and tears."

They sat quietly on her bed. "Do you want me to leave?" He asked finally, starting to get off the bed.

"No. I'd like for you to stay, for as long as I can have you." She answered, holding onto his hand, pulling him back into her bed.

The day had come for Aidan to leave. The LA premiere of the third instalment of The Hobbit had been successful, but he hadn't enjoyed the night to the fullest. Charlie had gone with him and walked the red carpet. The night had been bittersweet because he knew she would be driving him to the airport the next day so he could fly to London.

Daisy wailed as he broke their hug and he felt his heart breaking. He leaned down to hug Logan.

"Take care of your sisters." Aidan whispered into Logan's ear.

"I will." A tearful Logan responded.

Aidan stood and looked at Charlie.

"I love you." He told her. Wrapping her in a hug.

"I love you too." She said as she fought back her own tears.

He waved one last time before he turned and walked through the airport security, leaving behind the three people he loved the most in the world.
