Aidan sat by the pool, relaxing. He was glad his agent had convinced him to rent a house instead of staying in a hotel. He laid in the chair and started to read over his script when a ball splashed in his pool, getting him wet.
"Sorry!" A small voice called.
"It's alright. Hold on one second." Aidan called back, fishing the ball out of the pool. He brought it over to the fence and peaked over.
"Here you are, little man." Aidan said, tossing the ball to the little boy.
"Thank you!" The little guy said, catching the ball. "What's your name?" He asked.
"Aidan. And you?" Aidan smiled. He had to admit that the little guy was cute.
"Logan. You talk funny, Aidan." The little boy said, running his hand throughout his curly blond hair.
"I'm from Ireland. Everyone there talks like this." Aidan laughed. He liked this kid.
"Hey Logan, are we still playing ball? A teenage girl asked.
"That's my babysitter, I gotta go." Logan said, wrinkling his nose.
Logan waved at Aidan and went back to playing with his ball. Aidan sighed as he went back in the house to finish unpacking.

The doorbell rang as Aidan was brushing this teeth. He checked his watch, thinking it would be his agent but he still had ten minutes. He walked to the door, tooth brush still in his mouth and saw Logan with his face pressed against the window, along with an other, smaller girl. Curious, he opened the door.
Hi! Welcome to the neighbourhood!" A smiley, blonde woman said. "I'm Charlie." She smiled. "Oh, these are for you." She said, handing a plate of cookies. "It was Logan's idea."she added, gently resting her hand on Logan's head as the little girl whined to be picked up. "And this is Daisy." She said as she scooped her up.
"Aidan." He said, accepting the plate. "Nice to meet you." He added, offering her his hand. She flashed him another smile and took his hand in her free one.
A blue car pulled into Aidan's drive way at that moment and Aidan quickly dropped Charlie's hand.
"Looks like you have company. We'll get out of your hair." Charlie said, grabbing Logan's hand.
"Bye bye." Logan waved as Charlie led him down the stairs. Daisy shyly waved over Charlie's shoulder.
"Whose the hottie?" Aidan's agent, Reed asked as he walked into Aidan's house, out of Charlie's ear shot.
"My neighbour." Aidan answered, as he grabbed his phone and wallet.
"She married?" Reed asked, looking out the window to where Charlie and the two kids were playing. Aidan shrugged, he hadn't asked. "Meh, she's got kids. Chicks with kids like serious stuff, I'm looking for flings. Ready to go?" Reed continued as they left the house

Aidan swung open the front door, revealing a barefooted Charlie.
"Hi, so sorry to bother you. Do you have any vapour rub? Logan and Daisy are both really sick and I haven't had time to go to the store." As Aidan looked at her he noticed she looked exhausted.
"I think I do. I'll go find it and bring it over."
"Thanks so much." She said, looking relieved. "Just let yourself in."
Aidan softly knocked as he walked into the house. It was cleaner than he had expected a house with two small kids to be. He found Charlie in the living room, trying to deal with Logan, who was having a coughing fit and Daisy, who had started to cry. She noticed Aidan and flashed him an apologetic look.
Logan got very excited when he saw Aidan after he had stopped coughing.
"Aidan! Do you want to see my room? I have race cars we can play with!" He said, standing on the couch, jumping.
"Ya buddy, that sounds fun!" Aidan said, looking over at Charlie as she mouthed a thank you.
Logan and Aidan had moved onto reading a book about cars when Charlie walked in.
"Alright bud, it's getting close to bed time."Charlie said, as she brushed his hair out of his eyes.
"Can Aidan read me one more story?" He asked sweetly, as he leaned against Aidan's chest.
"I'd love to! If it's alright?" Aidan responded, looking over to Charlie. She bit her lip.
"Alright, one more, but let's brush your teeth and take your medicine first."

"Hey, he's ready for you to tuck him in." Aidan said, poking his head into the hall. She walked in and he left, standing in the hall, waiting. He was able to overhear the sweet exchange and the prayer they said.
"Good night Logan, I love you." He over heard Charlie say.
"Love you too." Logan softly answered as Charlie shut the door. Aidan followed her as they quietly left the hall way and moved into the kitchen.
"Hey, I was thinking, you could write a list of stuff you need from the store and I could quickly go grab them for you. I noticed you guys are running low on milk."
"Would you really? That would be the biggest life saver, ever." Charlie said, looking hopeful.
"It would be no problem at all." Aidan said as Charlie ripped a piece of paper off the fridge. She quickly wrote down a few things as handed it Aidan.
"You're a life saver." She sighed. He smiled at her as they walked to the door.
He let himself into the house, holding the two grocery bags and taking them into the kitchen, where Charlie was looking at some papers.
"Thanks again Aidan, how much do I owe you? She asked as she grabbed her purse.
"Don't worry about it." He said.
"I'm serious Aidan, how much do I owe you?"
"I'm also serious Charlie, it's fine."
She shook her head as she looked at him, one hand resting on her hip.
"At least stay and eat with me, I was going to order a pizza."

As they sat and ate pizza they talked. She knew he was an actor, she had seen The Hobbit recently, but hadn't had time to see the second one yet. He found out that she worked with autistic children.
Aidan cleared his throat. He wanted to ask about Logan and Daisy's dad but wasn't sure how to approach the topic. He noticed that she wasn't wearing any ring.
"I hope you don't think I'm being nosy, but is your children's father involved? Don't answer if you don't want to, but I was just wondering in case I saw a strange man around."
"Oh, Logan and Daisy aren't my kids, their my brother and sister. We have the same dad... Had. Him and my step mom died last year in a car accident, and we only have older relatives, so I got them."
"Shit, Charlie. I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said anything."
"It's alright Aidan, you didn't know." She said, putting her hand on his. She gave him a smile and changed the subject.
