Brenton's POV//:
"CAUSE' ALL OF ME, LOVES ALL OF YOU," I used my amazing singing skills to belt out the deep lyrics from the world's current favorite song, All Of Me by John Legend. I could not count - on two hands how many times this song has played on the radio this past week. It was that overplayed. To be honest, I was getting tired of it, but the adorable giggles coming from the driver's seat told me that Hayden didn't feel the same way.
"You know, you should really try out for American Idol, I heard they were coming here next week." She said, laughing. "Ha-ha. Maybe I will. They'd probably just give me the cash prize at auditions," I said, sarcasm thick in my voice.
"Wow, you're funny too! Hot, funny, and a great singer-Brent you're a triple threat." She said, chuckling.
After that statement, I had this dumb smile on my face that wouldn't seem to fade.
She pulled into the baseball field parking lot and drove over to the sidewalk to let me out. I looked over at her as she slightly stepped on the brake. She was so damn beautiful.
Hayden, or Hay, as I-and ONLY I-and her best friend, Summer, call her, had dark brown, straight hair that cut off about halfway down her back. She had naturally tanned skin and an amazing smile, it could literally make my day, everyday, forever. Oh, and she had these eyes. These amazing, deep blue eyes with smal sparks of green and brown in certain areas. A guy like me could get lost in her eyes for days, and never get bored. To this day, almost 4 years of being with her, I still could not believe that an amazing, near perfect girl like her didn't think she was anything special. No matter how many times I tried to prove her wrong, she thought she was just another girl in the crowd. This, however, could not be further from the truth.
If anyone was average here, it was me.
I had plain brown eyes and matching hair that I just kind of let do it's thing. It stuck up in different places on different days, but I wasn't about to complain; it pretty much always met my expectations with little to no effort from me. My favorite thing about myself was probably my body. I played football and baseball, so I was pretty fit with more muscle than most guys in my class. I still don't know how someone like me ended up with someone like Hayden, though.
When the car came to a complete stop, I pecked her on the cheek. "See you at nine?" I asked, in a voice where you couldn't even tell if it was a question or a statement-this was our usual conversation.
"I'll be here." She smiled. "Have fun!"
"I like you," I winked, earning a little laugh from her. "I like you, too." She answered, waving as I closed the door of my truck.
That was our thing. We had been dating since freshman year, but neither of us thought the word 'love' should be thrown around and given to any old person. We savored it, and if either of us ever said it to someone, everyone that knows us knew that whatever we had and every word that we've ever said to that person, has been and always will be 100% real. Of course, I always have and would never say anything I didn't mean to Hay, but she didn't want to take it that far unless both of us knew ourselves-and eachother inside and out, and neither did I.
I began walking up the worn concrete path that lead to the fields with my baseball bag hung over my shoulder-that same stupid grin on my face. This is what she does to me.
