Wake up. Wake up. Wake up.
I'm ignoring what my brain is telling me. I'm just tossing and turning in bed, enjoying my sleep, pretending yesterday was merely just a dream.
Wake up you fool!
I sat straight up in bed and gasped for air, as if I were drowning in my sheets. I realized how dark my room was. I rubbed my eyes and looked outside, it was still dark. Why would I get up so early? I was still in the same clothes as yesterday, so I grabbed a flashlight from my dresser and looked at my clothes. I put on a pair of blue jeans, a maroon tank, and my favorite leather jacket. I went over to a light switch and turned it on. Nothing again.
I sighed and made my way to the garage to get out our camping supply bins. Inside were propane tanks, first aid kits, survival kits, tents, lanterns, and the "just add water" foods. I grabbed the lanterns and turned them on. Hooray batteries! I dispersed them throughout the house, making it a little bit brighter. I thought for a moment and grabbed my backpack from school. It was a grey Jansport bag, perfect for long hikes and heavy binders. I dumped all of my school supplies out on the floor and went into the garage. I got the first aid kits, survival kits, just add water food, and tiny pots and pans in there. I went inside and stuffed the bag with more food, mostly canned green beans and corn, and plastic water bottles, full ones and two empty. I went and grabbed my pocket knives my dad got me for Christmas and stuffed them in there as well, along with a bunch of pads.
That should be enough, I thought.
I went into my room and grabbed a red and black flannel, another tank top, and two pairs of underwear and stuffed those on top of the bag, along with a blanket as well.
I smiled at my "survival bag". There, perfect.
Of course it was full and heavy, but in case of an emergency, I'd have it there to take. I sat it against the living room wall and sat in the couch. I grabbed my phone to check the time.
4:46 A.M.
I sighed and saw my battery percentage was at 13%. I went into my parents room and saw my dad's watch. It was nice and it still worked. I put it on my wrist and looked at my parent's bed. It was made up, all prim and perfectly fine. I went to my dads side of the bed and opened up the top drawer of his nightstand. Nothing there. I went to my moms side and opened hers as well.
Nothing.
I rolled my eyes and made my way into the living room. The house was so quiet, and I didn't like it. The sun started peeking through the trees, the light pouring into the living room. I smiled and slipped on my favorite combat boots and made my way out the back door. I shut the door behind me, smelling the morning dew, letting the sun's rays hit my face, enjoying every bit of it, until I heard a noise.
A noise I'll never forget. It was a sort of growl. Like someone was gasping for air while water was stuck in their mouth, mixed with a slight growl. I turned my head toward that direction, to see a lady walking right towards me. We didn't have a fence in our yard because we thought it was pointless, so she was roaming freely around our yard.
"H-hello?" I called.
No response. I just kept getting the same noise, but she kept walking closer. I saw something pouring out of her mouth and onto her chin.
Blood. Blood filled her mouth and spilled everywhere. I saw the many cuts the woman had on her face and hands, the paleness of her skin. She was, dead.
