Ana, dear Ana,
from the day I first met you,
I've never been able
to fully forget you.
Your voice in my head
brings a sting to my eyes.
Wrap your arms 'round my waist as you promise me lies.
"With me, you are strong.
Don't be foolish, my girl,
Why not play along
with the rest of the world?"
I was weak, lacked power.
I wanted control.
So I let Ana lead me,
I gave her my soul.
As she helped me to change,
I learned to obstain.
Stay away from the things
that caused me such pain.
But as I progressed,
my loved ones were scared.
Said I was depressed,
but I didn't care.
Despite what they said
in the midst of concern,
I kept Ana close
and more I did learn.
She taught me to love
each hunger pang.
Soon "thin' wasn't enough,
and starvation she sang.-GS
