Fireflies (FullMetal Alchemist fanfiction)

☾A New Dimension☽

I stared blankly into the floating black mass that wavered in the air before all of us. I was shaking as I looked at the blood that had spattered across my hands as well as all over the floor. I quickly strayed from panicking before wiping the red mess away on my pants.

''You have achieved something no one else could have done. ''

''Yes but we don't even know if this is safe.'' I retorted a little shaken to my bones.

''Its as safe as it can get Kiomi.'' Roy said flatly.

I only glanced at him slightly and then huffed. I breathed in slowly trying not to think of all the bad things that could possibly happen. I had no idea why but the feeling that was wrenching in my gut was telling me something seriously wrong was going to happen. I had to play it off smoothly or I could freak out. Suddenly I was distracted from my nervous jitters as Riza came running up.

''We cannot waste anymore time sir. We have no idea how long the portal will stay open we can only give it about a twenty -four hour guess if not a little less.'' Roy nodded taking a deep breath.

''Are you ready to go through with this?''

''How much more ready could I be?'' I laughed nervously to myself before nodding.

''Only one person can enter the portal at a time from what we know are you sure you can do this on your own. '' Nodding slowly I looked to the black hole.

''I'll do my best to help bring them home even if it means lugging them over my shoulders.'' Riza and Roy laughed slightly before they smiled. I slowly approached the black mass. My nerves breaking inside of me as my heart pounded. I wanted to scream but I was able to push that off as I looked back to everyone else that was counting on my help. I bit my lip before I quickly entered the portal. I had put my hands over my head to protect myself from impact. The inside of the portal was loud , it felt like it took forever before I had suddenly fallen through what had to be the other side of the gate. I pushed my hands out from my head to catch myself.

I landed in dirt as I rolled down on a path that must have been a road. When my body stilled I looked back to the portal which I almost had not spotted as it was invisible to the normal eye. I sat up on my elbows my long brown hair falling to my shoulders as I examined the area. It was an out of town roadway I could tell from the grassy plains of nothing. I slowly began to stand up as I was startled by the honking of a car about to ram right through. I quickly got up stepping to the side of the road before holding my now bruised arms to my self. I had landed so hard on the dirt road I caused my self to bleed. I tried rubbing it off noticing my now ripped clothes as well. I shook my head.

I looked back to where the portal was so I could remember and then decided I could not waste anymore time. I looked ahead the road and down the road for another vehicle. Thankfully to my luck another on happened to be coming. I waved my hand out slowly trying to think of a lame excuse I use to help get me a ride. Generously a big truck had stopped near me. I crossed the street as a few women from what I could tell had offered to let me in the back with them. Kindly I took the offer hopping up to the back. I noticed how everyone was dressed so differently I felt out of place as I sat with my knees to my chest.

''Oh dear what happened?'' Asked one of the women as she examined my scratched up knees and arms.

''I just scuffed myself up is all.'' I said taking my hand away from them slowly.

''We can help you with that once we get into town we can get you some new clothes to.''

''No there is no need for that. Its okay really I have to..

''Please we must it's something nice we can do for you. For a fellow gypsie your quite young though.''

''Gypsie?'' I asked myself in my head. I noticed they had dark skin just like me but their eyes were brown instead of red. this must be the othersides version of ishvalans...

I ended up being suckered into staying with them. They were heading to a science fair of some sorts as they called it. I thought maybe it might give me a way to look for Edward and Alphonse. So when we arrived the ''gypsies'' had all nicely . but still firmly dragged me to their booth as I tried to thank them and leave. They would not except it. So with force I was helped. Me trying to be stubborn doesn't work much. I sighed to my self once I had washed away the bloody scratches. I realized that maybe it was a good idea I had change my clothes because I might be given away for suspicious reasons and I didn't have time for that. The only thing the ''gypsies'' had were their extra dresses and shoes so I quickly settled on a blue dress with a headdress necklace. I blended in for the most part.

''Thank you all so much.'' I smiled softly before waving at the them. I was ready to leave before suddenly an idea popped into my head. I turned back to them.

''Would any of you have any information on the Elric Brother's ?''

''If your talking about Edward and Alphonse than yes! They enter the fair every year with a new invention I think they did a rocket ship last year.''

''Would you know if they had entered this year?''

''Those boys wouldn't miss it even if it was on their last day on earth. Their probably setting up or arriving as we speak.''

''Thank you.'' I said once again.

''I'm Kiomi by the way.'' The ''gypsies'' smiled before I turned from them. They exited from the tent heading in different directions. I looked about the area in which I had to search. There were a lot of people and inventions sitting about the fair. I needed to look and as quickly as fast. So I ventured across the grounds examining each and every face I possibly could. It was so hectic I was beginning to panic as I had not yet spotted them. I had to start asking people who talked so highly of the two boys but said they were no where to be seen. Feeling slightly defeated I stopped walking to look around again thinking maybe I was missing something about them. As I stood clearly out of peoples way as well I suddenly felt someone grab my hand and pull me through a tent. I whipped around trying to punch at them since they had startled me.

Though my hand was quickly pushed down as I struggled now frustrated.

''Let me go!'' I growled as I could now see the man that grabbed me. He was about my age maybe a little older.

''What is your name gypsie girl?'' he demanded.

''None of your business now let me go!'' I kicked at him . His grip fell as I ran out of the tent he began to run after me. I pushed my hands almost ready to transmute before I remembered alchemy doesn't exist here. I shook my head as I thought of what to do. I could see a tree and so I ran as fast as I could climbing up the branch. The man had caught up and climbed the tree as I got higher I had noticed we attracted some lovely attention. Great! I tried to go up as high as I could but suddenly I lost my grip and fell down on top of none other than the golden eyed blonde haired alchemist I had been looking for.
