Christmas Eve was full of laughter,
of smiles, of love, of crossing the invisible line,
and at some point we found ourselves tangled together,
her skin so warm against mine.
With stomachs full of hot cocoa and pudding,
I felt her deep, sleeping breath on my neck,
her Ocean Eyes shut away from the world,
my fast-paced heart a racing wreck.
Her fingers were in my hair,
her dress hem tickled my knees,
everything was in its place,
when she was there, there was nothing more I'd ever need.
She meant the world to me,
she and her Ocean Eyes,
she slowed the world to a pace I could keep up with,
she made everything dark turn bright.
She woke up and caught me staring,
'is there something on my face?'
I kissed her forehead and told her she was amazing,
and I felt her heart pick up its pace.
Her Ocean Eyes twinkled under the dim light,
her hands cupped my cheeks,
she told me she had a gift for me,
and said, 'don't peek'.
The second I closed my eyes,
her soft pink lips were on mine,
and I felt my stomach explode with butterflies,
the best gift I'd received tonight.
She tasted of musk and cinnamon,
she smelled of strawberries and milk,
her hair felt like cotton between my fingertips,
her dress felt like silk.
She pulled away and asked if I liked my gift,
I asked if I could return it,
and then I was once more kissing her lips,
before she even had a chance to question it.
