Hey, so this is just a little story that I decided to write within a little spare time and also from great encouragement from a friend. I'm very sorry if you think it's bad but I really do hope you enjoy!

Chapter 1: Friday the 13th

I was sitting on the bus with Yasmin and Neicha happily chatting about what we had just bought and what we were planning on packing for the coming weekend. Yasmin was absolutely beautiful; natural brown hair framing her beautiful facial features, an amazing, flexible figure and the biggest heart around. Neicha was a Congolese and Japanese mix with beautiful golden eyes and long naturally straight black hair down to her waist that made her eyes pop.  As I had been to our destination before I gave recommendations although most received a disgusted look from Yasmin, the all-time fashion guru. When I reached home I proceeded to prepare for the weekend to the Norfolk Broads with my five closest friends; Yasmin, Neicha, Kellan, Felix and Jason. Felix was about 5’11, deep blue eyes and hair cropped short, Kellen an obviously muscled frame and he was also very vain about it as well, living in clothes around three sizes too tight. Kellen was always popular with the ladies and it was impossible to stay mad at him and then Jason. He had been my closest friend for many years and by far one of the most beautiful people inside and out.  A group chat with the group before bed resulted in us driving there in two cars, me and Jason in his Blue Range Rover and the other four in Felix’s new black BMW X6 which he secretly hoped would catch Neicha’s eye. The girls had decided this arrangement after I had gotten off the bus thinking it would be “sweet” for me and Jason to have some alone time. I went to sleep that night with a weird feeling in my stomach... I thought it was excitement and pushed it to one side.

At around 3pm the cars were packed and I was patiently waiting for my loving grandmother to finish her eighth lecture on when to text her on the journey and where everything is on the boat, and then she finally gave me the boat key. As I was about to run out the room she stopped me and said “stick together Amber, two is stronger than one” I smiled gave her a massive hug, kissed her cheek and ran towards my friends shouting “thank you!” over my shoulder. Kellen had either forgotten the girls plan or was purposely ignoring it for mine or his ears sake because he tried to sit in the passenger seat of the range rover, where Jason was already buckled in the driver’s seat, but the usually polite Neicha was having none of it. She slapped him once round the back of the head and pulled him out the car by his ear. I had to laugh at the authority, my once shy friend, was asserting but pulled a face at Jason when I heard her muttering in his ear about “romance” and “privacy” as she lead him to Felix’s car. I noticed Felix was watching them and frowning from the driver’s seat and gave him a sympathetic smile. He returned it and then began playing with the radio. I began wishing people could understand that nothing was going to happen between us. We were best friends no we was like family and he often said it himself, there was no jealousy when he came to me for female advise we was just important to each other, once upon a time he had been my entire world and he had loved someone else and I had learnt to love him in a different way, he had never said what happened to their relationship. She had just disappeared and he became very involved with my group of friends and myself but I often catch his eye and know something is bothering him. I waved at the clowns in the BMW and slid in beside Jason, I peaked at his shirtless body, almost carved, his muscles so defined and the muscles in his thighs straining against his shorts. His skin slightly shiny from the sweat of the day’s weather and then suddenly his pecks and thighs started moving strangely. I looked up to see him watching me with a big grin and an eye brow raised, I smacked his arm and we set off on our three-hour long journey, the other car right behind us, following us because only me and Jason had been to my grandmothers boat before.

We arrived in Wroxham at 6:45pm and stopped at the McDonald’s because the Donkey in the seat next to me was always hungry and almost constantly eating yet he never gained weight and after seeing how unaffected his body was I couldn’t help the slight jealousy that stung my stomach. I sent Yasmin a text to see where they were as they arrived and nearly jumped when not 2 seconds later my phone vibrated ‘Wag1, Got Lost, Soz 4 Delay, B Der Soon, xKagzx’ which translated into ‘hey, we got lost, sorry for the delay, be there soon, xKagsx’. Getting to Norfolk was like walking to the end of my road, I had done it a great amount of times although my Nan had always been driving. Over an hour later I received a picture message from Kellan of Jason and myself sharing a McFlurry and smiling at each other it was captioned “aaww! Sweetest thing :p x” I looked out the window to see the residents of the other car walking towards the restaurant and flicked Kellan the bird, his eyebrows wiggled and I turned my head away from him to hide my grin knowing I could never stay mad at him.

We finally arrived at the broads at around 8:30PM and we sorted the boat out, the beds set up and the canopy down by 9PM, the sun was still up although on its way down so I decided to drive the boat to a different mooring to give the others a thrill. The water was a jade and turquoise shade and was as smooth as glass until slight ripples appeared as the boat cut the surface. Looking down you could see the jungle of lily pads and water reeds below the surface, the small fish finding food within the gravel. The sky was a beautiful pink colour with a few clouds dotted about it, the trees like a frame to the scenery down river, making it appear a painting.

On the journey, the sun got lower and suddenly as if someone had switched off a light, the day turned to night and a thick mist appeared across the water. I turned on the navigation lights but feeling slightly less confidence with the lack of my grandmother’s presence I moored up, fearing an accident. Felix and Kellan put the canopy up and joined the others and myself inside the boat where we all took turns getting changed into our PJ’s in the fold out bathroom. The fog started to clear and I realised where we were and squealed with excitement. It was the Norfolk Windmill. I had been fascinated with this abandoned building from a very young age and often spent time looking at the beautiful painting of it on my great aunts wall. It looked different though, a strange blue tint to its wood and a white glow to the sails from the moon. It looked eerie and instead of fear I was suddenly curious and drawn to the beautiful building. With a few adjectives and my pouty “I thought you loved me” I persuaded the group to join me in a trek to the windmill, with our torches, blankets and of course Jason brought a massive heap of food. The air seemed thick as we got closer and the floor a little muddy; I got a thrill when we found the door to be unlocked.

Once inside we made our way to the top of the windmill to the little ledge full of hay so we could settle down. Only Jason and Yasmin had brought their phones and Yasmin immediately began snapping selfies with everyone. I was looking out the window at the moon and how beautifully it shone on the boat and water when Jason came up to me and asked if I was okay, we shared a quiet conversation, he commented on Yasmin showing off her flexibility and I shouted to her in mock jealousy that she was going to break her back one day and as soon as I turned round there was a scream so loud and high pitched it rocked the windmill and I’m sure my blood started to curdle, I immediately grasped Jason’s six foot four inch frame, gigantic compared to my five foot 6 inch frame, instinctually thinking I had jinxed fate and that Yasmin had seriously hurt herself but subconsciously knowing the scream was too powerful. We spun round and noticed the girls cuddled up to boys with pure fear on their face. No one was hurt. I swallowed, pulled my blanket around my face and crept back down the stairs, knowing that I was more curious than fearful at that moment and then noticed Jason was with me, he held my hand as we walked down the stairs, ensuring I didn’t fall.  When we reached the bottom of the steps, Jason paused and we both started in horror, my breathe catching in my throat. The floor was suddenly flooded with around six inches of black liquid, the same black treacle-like substance was on the wall too, Felix called out to see if we were okay but when we didn’t reply came running down the stairs himself. When he saw the liquid he ran to the door and started tugging on it but it was jammed, he traded places with Kellan, knowing he was stronger. I pulled a torch from my waistband and shone it on the door and immediately regretted it. I gasped and Jason spun round and grabbed me worrying I had gone into shock but all I felt was curiosity and a humidity feeling to the air, no fear or any emotion near it. He then looked at where I had frozen the light, and gasped as he saw that the black liquid was now an extremely dark shade of red and an even more vibrant red on Kellan’s legs. The guys sprinted upstairs, Jason throwing me over his shoulder to make his journey quicker. He sat on the floor and pulled me onto his lap where he rocked me, thinking I was in shock, but I was still only very confused internally. After around 20 minutes he suddenly chuckled and I looked up at him in shock and confusion along with everyone else, minutes ago he had been a picture of worry for himself and me and now he was laughing as if he had seen then funny in the world, when he noticed our stares he just plainly shrugged and in a humorous tone said “someone here is cursed by Friday the 13th.” Kellan pointed at me and we all erupted into giggles temporarily forgetting the situation.
