We didn’t bother calling anyone because there was no reception so it was just wasting battery. Suddenly Felix jumped up and sprinted up the little flight of stairs that led to a small ledge. Then we noticed he was running towards a window, he slid it open and we all jumped up in excitement. He climbed onto the sill but as soon as his body was about to pass through an extremely bright, perfectly white light shone from nowhere, a scream of pain came from Felix and he was then launched right off the windowsill into the wall with such power the whole windmill shook.
“FELIXXXX!!!!” Neicha screamed and ran up the stairs we all just stared at each other in complete shock and then ran up after her. “Someone or something doesn’t want to leave” said Neicha, “but do they want us to live?” Kellan suddenly muttered. About an hour had passed and we were all crowded around Felix, who was still unconscious. We all had put our blankets over Felix and my duvet was tucked under his head to keep it upright.
“Are you cold?” Jason suddenly asked me, breaking the silence. “a little, hadn’t really noticed how cold it is in here” I confessed realising I had sat very still for a while now. Jason picked me up and pulled me on his lap, allowing our body heat to merge, that’s when I noticed I was seriously shaking. “er.. guys what the hell is that?” asked Yasmin pointing to a sudden glow above Felix’s head, Kellan quickly woke Neicha who had been asleep on Felix’s chest. We all watched as the little orb moved and hovered over Yasmin’s, then Kellan’s then Neicha’s heads. We all remained still, not sure what it was, but then as quickly as it arrived, it disappeared.
“How comes it never came above us?” I asked Jason. “I’m not sure babe, just keep calm, and don’t stress the others out even more” he whispered in my ear. My heart began to race and as if he had read my mind he leant in my ear and mumbled “whatever happens to them good or bad isn’t happening to you and it isn’t happening to me either, I’m going to be here the whole time” and he kissed my head. There were no noises except a few gurgles from Felix and then a bright light woke me.
Everyone around me were sound asleep, I sat still listening to Jason’s strong heart and steady breathing. The sun was directly on my face, so warm and inviting, it was bliss. Then I noticed the blood splattered on the walls and hell began again. I had the urge to go down stairs, so carefully without waking anyone I walked down the stairs off the ledge and then sat on the top step of the next flight of stairs, staring at the vivid red blood. I allowed a few silent tears to fall. As I stared I began to notice slight ripples, yet there was no breeze, the air was dead. I began to pay more attention and that’s when I noticed the pattern of the now stronger ripples were as if someone was pacing, to the door and back to the stairs, to the door and back to the stairs.
Pain filled my body, as if every atom in my body was tearing apart. Images of my friends upstairs flashed in my head, us all smiling, various memories and then it froze on an image of their graves, all one after the other, pure white with a single red rose that I had placed on top of each grave stone. I felt a tightening wrap round my waist and I started to panic not being able to breathe, but then the images disappeared and I realised I had been trying to claw Jason off of me.
The tears were thick down my face as I clung to him realising he must’ve heard my sobs, I was currently on his lap and he had scratch marks on his arms and tears in his eyes. I pulled myself as tight as I could to him and snuggled my face into his neck, his arms tightened around me. “im so sorry Jason, there were images and clips in my head and you were all … d-dead and I-I wasn’t and it h-hurt so much and…and then I felt you and…”, “stop baby girl enough, ssshhh everything is fine I’m here now, you’re safe, it was only in your head” he interrupted as I sobbed hard onto his shoulder.
Neicha was next at my side holding my hand and from Jason’s lap I embraced her in a hug, she quietly whispered in my ear “make sure you show Jason you love him before it’s too late, who knows when we are getting out of here”, I hugged her tighter “you are crazy” I replied with a smile.
