-----Annabelle's POV-----
I looked myself in the mirror. My golden hair had faded into a dirty blonde color and hung lifelessly down past my shoulders. My clear blue eyes were outlined by a small amount of eyeliner and a bit of mascara, so they still had the natural look. My skin was as pale as it normally was, making my pale pink lips look even paler. I looked down to double check that my bracelets completely covered all the scares on my wrists. I pulled my sweatshirt sleeves down over the bracelets before looking back at the mirror. I hate my appearance. I'm too fat, my eyes are an ugly color, my hair is pathetic, I'm so pale it's just sad. It's no wonder guys don't like me.
I turned to look at Eric when he knocked on the doorframe.
" You ready to go, kiddo? I can give you a lift to school if you like?"
I simply nodded before following him downstairs. I stopped to put on my peacoat and grabbed my jacket before walking out to Eric's avalanche. The ten minute drive was silent. I was about to get out when Eric stopped me.
"Hey kiddo, Sammie is going to pick you up today after school since I have a meeting until late today. I already talked to her and she said she would be here at three thirty."
"Mk. See you tonight, Eric!" I said as I got out and headed into the school.
I headed towards my locker. As I got closer I saw that Trent was already there texting away on his phone.
"Hey loser." I said as I opened my locker.
"No need to be sassy this early in the morning." He replied, tucking his phone into his back pocket.
"Sorry but the sass doesn't turn off. Was that Sarah by any chance?" I turned to him after shutting my locker.
"Maybe or maybe not." He said looking away from me quickly as we started to walk to homeroom.
"So are you guys dating yet?" I asked with a mischievous smirk.
"None of your business young lady. Hey look we're here!"
"Hey! I'm still older than you! And don't change the subject on me mister!"
Both laughed as we sat down in a pair of seats in the back of the room. We people watched as people filed in before the bell. I looked at Trent and he started our little game with the quarterback who had just walked in with his slu-girlfriend!
"Didn't you see my awesome muscles when I got that touchdown last night? They are so huge!" Trent said in a deep voice.
"Eww! You were all sweaty and gross! Besides I was too busy making out with John Doe to notice you!" I said in a high pitched nasally voice.
We went back and forth for a while like that before she went over to her posy. Trent and I were cackling anyway so it didn't really matter anyway. The entire class looked back over at them when one of them shrieked.
"OH MY GOD!! ONE DIRECTION LANDS DURING FIFTH PERIOD!! I HAVE TO BE AT THE AIRPORT TO SEE THEM!!" She shouted.
The rest of the group started talking about them and the concert in a few days. (Nobody really knows why they are coming so early and staying for a week in total.) I sighed and let me head drop to my desk. One Direction is my all time favorite band. They changed my life. Saved it actually. It's completely cliche I know, but they really did.
"Still want to go to their concert?" Trent asked quietly.
"Always." I sighed.
"Well, I would get you tickets, but there aren't any reasonably priced tickets left."
I turned my head towards him so quickly that it actually hurt my neck, "Trent! Don't be ridiculous! I wouldn't accept them anyway! That's a lot of money!" I hissed.
"I know I know! It's $560 for crappy nosebleeds at this point anyway."
"Point proven."
"I really wish there was someway you could go. I know how much they mean to you."
"Thank you."
That's when the teacher decided to make his appearance. Homeroom went by swiftly. My other classes not so much. Homeroom, lunch, and fifth period are the only times I'm with Trent.
It was currently five minutes till final bell. Just like the other students, I was packed and ready to make a beeline for the door as soon as that bell rang. I sit closest to the door so as soon as it rang I was already out the door. I grabbed my homework out of my locker and put my unneeded materials back. Trent walked up to me.
"Need a ride home?"
"Nope! Sammie is picking me up at three thirty."
"That's in like, half an hour! It's November! It's literally twenty five degrees outside!" He scolded me.
"Trent I'll be fine! I'm a big girl. I'll just chill in the school."
"Doors lock at three ten." Trent dead panned.
"Then it's a good thing I have my jacket. Just go already! Sarah's probably waiting for you!"
He did as I told him and took off. I stayed inside until the doors were locked. At that point I went and sat on the front steps.
As I waited for Sammie it got colder and colder. I knew it had to have been later than three thirty at that point. I just put my head on my knees and kept waiting.
I finally stood up after it had gotten dark. I started the ten mile trek to Sammie and Eric's house. After a few blocks, something cold landed on my cheek. I stop and looked up. I stood there for a few minutes just watching the snow before continuing to the house.
