Blair
I was running through the campus when I looked up and saw that perhaps it would rain. I stopped to save some papers I was holding in my hand. I was about to start running again, when I felt someone staring at me.
i looked around but nothing was really out of place. Students passed by, mostly running because of the weather. I let the feeling pass because I needed to go fast.
Twenty minutes later, and with a pair of seriously tired legs, I finally arrived at the safe house. It was one of the places in which my parents controlled their "empire". I got my keys out and entered.
The first floor was deserted, but I knew there were cameras so I waved my hand to those I recognized. I knew Bobby or Ty would be watching.
I went through a set of stairs and finally arrived at the headquarters.
There were lots of boxes full of the "product". I passed throught the spaces between them and opened the doors to the office, technically, my office.
A pair of boys were sitting in a sofa in the corner of the room. Both blondies, both, probably not really dumb and they both great bodyguards.
Bobby looked up from his computer and looked at me. "Hey B!!!!" he said with really big excitement for just me.
While Bobby made a fuzz about me and hugged as if he hadnt seen me for months, Ty just looked up from his gun. He was cleaning it. He waved at me and smiled with a simple smile. this boys were something.
"Well, I'm gonna start to work guys so you can go and rest." I was saying as I seated myself in the seat of the desk that was in the center of the room.
As soon as i was doing my job, which was doing countless mathematics and losses and gains and money and grams of the drugs, technically all the job my parents should do, I lost myself.
That was the thing about math and numbers, they held meaning as long as you saw it. I stopped seeing it in my job at maybe 15.
My parents started their work selling drugs when I was maybe 10 or 11. We needed money, and they were desperate. The first few years it gave us enough money to survive and start a sustainable life. Then I happened.
When I say "I happened", I mean that they noticed I was different from all the kids of my school. I was reaaally smart.
Maybe not that smart, but smart enough to be a bit more than average. So with the money my parents got from doing illicit traffic of drugs, I was able to skip some grades and go to a better school. By the time I was 15 years old I was about to be a senior, but I was also in the business of drugs already.I helped my parents. not as a dealer. but as the auditor.
I did all the accounting, with me having brain and all, and I actually enjoyed it a lot. Probably because of the numbers, or because I was being treated as an adult at such a young age.Even if I was doing something not entirely good. so I didn't look at the meaning the numners held so I could enjoy it just the same.
Approximately 4 hours passed, and it was probably past midnight when I finally looked up from my desk.
I only saw Ty now. He was looking at his computer.
I started gathering my things and organizing everything so that my parents didn't get any of the numbers wrong.I was standing up to leave.
When I saw through the window that maybe the sun was rising. "Fuck!", I thought, I won't be able to rest for another week.I left Ty and Bobby after a while of talking, when I noticed I was falling asleep.
