Chapter Four
Kevin
"Fine..." He muttered. "You have five minutes." Rylas frowned. I sighed in relief, then began to explain. "You already know about Garth and our gang. Whatever Yin told you isn't entirely true. A deal did go bad with Ling Chu and his gang, but Yin was the one who set everyone up." I paused. "So, why am I involved in this?" He furrowed his brows together in confusion. "Yin was going to try to use you as a way out." I frowned. "How?" He rolled his eyes. "Yin was going to trade you over to Ling as an exchange for a way off of Ling's dead list." I explained. "What?" Rylas looked at me in disbelief. "What right does he have to even try to do that?!" He glared. "He doesn't, but Ling doesn't know that." I sighed. "Kevin..." Austin walked into the room. "What?" I sighed. "Garth needs you down stairs." Austin's eye shifted awkwardly to and from Rylas and me. "The both of you." he frowned, then left the room and proceeded back downstairs.
"Listen, Garth, I get that you're pretending to be worried about me, but did you really need to have five of your guys trick me into thinking they were my friends just for you to stalk me?" Rylas glared with his arms crossed over his small chest. "They didn't exactly trick you." Garth rolled his eyes. "Regardless, it was necessary to keep you away from Yin, but apparently, someone didn't do his job correctly." Garth shot a short glare at Austin. "What?" Rylas looked over at Austin in confusion. "I was supposed to watch you after Kevin left..." Austin looked away in shame. "But I had to come over here instead, because someone crashed his car." Adrian glared. "It wasn't my fault! The guy came out of nowhere and hit me head on! He wasn't even on the right side of the road! I think he might have been working for Ling." Austin defended himself. "So... Ling want me as what exactly?" Rylas questioned. "We don't know." I frowned. "Great. This is great. I moved away from Yin to avoid getting involved with these things again, but nope... I guess the past just likes to sneak up on you and bite you in the ass." Rylas sighed heavily and say down on the couch. "Why do you all care about this anyways? I mean, technology, it's none of your business, right?" He asked, looking at all of us. "Think about it this way, Rylas. I owed you one from the last time we saw each other. Look at this as a way of repaying you for the past." Garth smirked. "Yeah, sure." Rylas rolled his eyes. "Well, I don't need your help now that I know what's going on, so..." He paused standing up. "Get the fuck out of my house." He glared. "All of you." He added, not dropping his glare. "If we leave Ling might try something." Adrian stated calmly. "Then I'll handle it. Now get out." Rylas growled. "Fine, but we warned you." Garth sighed, as he and everyone else left. "You too, Kevin. Get out." Rylas glared at me. "Rylas..." I frowned. "I'm sorry..." I sighed, looking down at the floor with guilt. "I didn't mean for you to feel like we tricked you. Hell, it was supposed to be just Austin and I who were supposed to make sure you were safe, but..." I paused and looked up at him. "Even though we were doing our job, I—" he cut me off. "I don't want to hear anymore excuses!" He yelled. "I trusted you the most, Kevin. I took that extra step with you, and for what?" He paused with tears in his eyes. "To find out that you were just doing your job to stalk me? That it was all a trick?" He frowned. "No, Rylas, that's not all it was." I stated taking steps towards him. "At first, yes... It was a job." I sighed. "But then I met you. I learned more about you, about who you are, and what your likes and dislikes were. Inviting you to hangout with us wasn't part of the job. I wanted to know more about you and be your friend... I guess the more I knew, the more it wasn't just wanting to be friends." I smiled slightly. He looked up at me with mixed emotions as tears fell. "I'm truly sorry that you feel like we were only tricking you..." I apologized. "But, my god, I can't just walk away from you now..." I stated truthfully. "I don't know what to do, Kev..." He whispered. "I'm hurt. I don't know what to believe. I want to believe that you actually care, but I don't know..." He confessed. "Let me show you I care... Forget about Garth and the others right now." I stated quietly, gently taking his hand in mine. "Kevin..." He frowned. "I swear... I'd never try to hurt you." I kissed his knuckles. "If I..." He hesitated. "If I give you a chance..." He paused. "What will the others think?" He questioned. "I don't know, and, to be honest, I don't fucking care." I smiled. "Okey." He sighed. "But you'll have to earn my trust again... It won't be easy either." He stated with a smirk. "I'll try my best." I grinned, wrapping my arm around his waist and pulling him close. "I'd hope so..." He laughed lightly. "Is it too early to say..." I paused and whipped a tear off his cheek. "To early to say what?" He gave me a confused look. "I love you, Rylas." I confessed.
