Carefully, I slip the red dress over my freshly showered skin. I pull it up and over my shoulders, smiling. Maddie does the zipper up, sighing and telling me that I look beautiful. I thank her.
Looking in the mirror, I can't help but agree with Maddie. My hair has been gracefully curled and cascades down my back, which is new for me. My red dress contrasts perfectly with my dark eye makeup and my black heels tie the look together.
"How are you feeling?" She asks. I smile.
"Good. It's just so natural, Mads. We fit, we match, you know? I mean I've known him for years, but not like this. He's ridiculously happy all the time– so am I."
"You've really got lucky with him. He's genuine, and funny, and he doesn't want to rush into anything. That's a very good quality."
"Right." I smile.
"Plus, he's extremely good looking." She giggles. I slap her on the arm.
"Maddie!"
"I know, I know. I have a boyfriend."
"I don't." I grin.
"Well you will pretty freaking soon– just in time for christmas I might add."
Thinking of mistletoe kisses and hot chocolates and snow fights with Johnny makes me smile. "I should go, but thank you for helping me get ready."
"Yes, you should. Do you want a purse?"
"Yes please." I smile, and she walks out of the room.

"You look drop dead gorgeous." I tease tMackenzie as she walks down the stairs in her fancy attire.
"Shut up." She smiles adorably my heart beats a little faster.
I turn to Melissa. "When should I get her home by? I'm nothing but a gentleman, see?"
She pokes my shoulder playfully. I bite back a laugh when I watch her narrow her eyes at her mother.
"No later than half eleven." Melissa agrees.
"Done." I smile, winding my fingers around Mackenzie's and clutching them tight. "Ready to go?"
"I'm ready to go." She confirms with a smile.
Just minutes later, after taking stupid selfies with the others, we hop into my car and I drive to the restaurant I've booked us into. It's outdoors, overlooking parts of the city, and gets full sun until about eight in the evening. Then it gets dark, and in short, that looks even more beautiful.
When we arrive at the restaurant I open the door for her. We openly joke at how nice I'm being, and when we check in at the reception the woman at the counter is surprised to hear it's our first date.
