"This way young man." The headmaster said to me, hand on my shoulder guiding me along slightly behind the group Ravenclaw students heading to their dorms. We split off down a short little corridor off of the first year dorms, the hall was complete cold stone, no lush carpet like the main hall, and was dimly lit by one window at the end. There were two candles lighting a heavy wooden door with peculiar carvings engraved into it. "This is where you'll stay for the time being, you really are something else Lake. I've never seen anything like this before, Professor Dumbledore probably never saw anything like this either." Professor Longbottom said, clapping me on the back and laughing. I grasped the metal door handle which was cold to the touch, and opened the door into the room. I walked into what seemed to be a main sitting area with a small fire place, tables and plush sitting chairs. It was a small room for being a dorm. There was another door at the very far corner of the room, and I curiously trotted towards it, opening the door and sticking my head in. It was a bedroom, with nothing but a bed, desk and a large window with heavy red drapes. On top of the bed, sat my backpack, suitcase, and owl. Ollie was not in his cage, which by the way was nowhere to be seen, but he sat contentedly on the frame of the bed. "Oliver!" I shouted rushing over to him and letting the bird perch on my arm. Ollie let out a soft whoo, bending his head down so I could stroke him. "You have a good bond with that owl don't you?" I jumped, the headmaster had snuck up noiselessly behind me, and was now leaning on the door frame, arms crossed and watching me intently. "Yeah, he's the only one besides Juniper who likes me here." I grumbled crossly. The headmaster raised his eyebrows surprisedly. "You mean Juniper Cullen? Who recently got put into Ravenclaw?" I gave him a sharp look. "Yeah. You sound surprised." I accused, letting Ollie nip at my finger. "Well.... I mean, Juniper is reserved and quiet. I didn't realize she would open up to a person like you." He explained, raising his palms to the ceiling and shrugging. "I'm not always that sarcastic and snarky." I said this so quietly, I wasn't sure that he even heard me. Running my finger down the soft red feathers on Ollie's head. I looked up slowly to see Professor Longbottom smiling sadly at me. "I recommend you get ready for bed, I'll be back shortly with the sorting hat so you two can confer." He said quietly, turning and closing the bedroom door behind him.
Taking Headmaster Longbottom's advice, I decided to get ready for bed. I put on my pj's, which were really just a pair of shorts and a T-shirt that I got from a Quidditch camp, and brushed my teeth. Ollie was by my side the whole time, pecking at his own reflection in the bathroom mirror, and practically sitting onto of my nicely folded robes. "Hey! Get off! I just folded those!" I shouted, shooing Ollie away playfully. Ollie flew up to the ceiling, and proceeded to swoop down to land gleefully on top of my head. "Get off of my head you crazy owl!" I laughed, grabbing at Ollie's talon and trying to drag him down from my head. A sudden knock came at the door of the room, and I shouted "Come in! I'm in quite the predicament, so I apologize that I can't open it for you!" The door handle rattled, then turned and an amused looking Professor Longbottom walked into the room. On his tail were Professor McGonagall and the short Professor who was carrying the hat in his hands. "Quite the party we've got here, eh?" I said, tilting my head to the right and sliding Ollie's talon out of my hair. Quickly getting a grip on both of Ollie's talons, I held him on my hand as he tried to escape. "Stop it crazy owl! We've got guests! Behave!" I shouted at him as he beat his wings wildly on my arm. As soon as the word 'guest' left my mouth, Ollie turned his wide eyes to stare at the three Professors in the door way. He immediately stopped flapping, and squawked annoyedly as if to say, "Who are these people to interrupt my beating!"
"Ollie, that's Professor Longbottom, that over there is Professor McGonagall, and that over there..... is.... I have no idea. He's the one with the hat, I guess." I explained, vaguely waving my hand in each professors' direction. I'm pretty sure Professor McGonagall was the one who let out a disapproving grunt at the introduction.
