Author's note: Sorry for the inconvenience but I edited the previous chapter,speicfically the part where Justin,Jade and Kate are in the janitor's closet and they hear someone approach.The mystery person who turned the knob is also a whistling a tune at that point right before Bill calls him.Hope there isn't any confusion.Thank you for your time.
Next morning
Jade's point of view
"Morning,"I said yawning and sitting down on the dining table
"Good morning to you too.Pancakes?"mom said handing me a plate.I nodded greatfully and poured maple syrup on it.
"What's up with you?"Jamie asked taking a humongous bite of pancakes.He was wearing a dark blue shirt which read,"All I'm saying is,give Nerds a chance." I looked at him and shook my head.It still amazed me how my younger brother could remain so skinny after eating bucket full of food.He pushed his glasses up and gave me the what-are-you-looking-at-dweeb look.
"I didn't get to sleep much,"I said truthfully,quickly stuffing my face with pancakes before mom could ask me why.I had various dreams,more like nightmares,about discovering Bill dead at school and getting arrested for breaking and entering.I also dreamt that he turned into a zombie and came pounding on my door to ask me why I didn't call for help.What? I know it's stupid but it kept me up all night wondering what happened to Bill and what would happen to us if we got caught.
I winced remembering the nightmare and Jamie caught me doing it.
"What's the matter?"he asked curiously."Did the big bad bogey man scare you again?"he said with a pout,faking concern.I reached over and ruffled his hair.
"Hey!Watch the hair!"he said ducking,getting up and trying to style it back as spikes while looking at his reflection in the silver dish.
I grinned and drank some orange juice.
A car horn sounded and the song,"My Chick Bad" played loudly outside our house.Jamie stuffed another pancake in his mouth,drank his juice in one gulp and grabbed his bag mumbling,"Thwat's Frake"( That's Drake).
"Swallow first,"mom said turning to look at him.
He chewed quickly,swallowed,gave mom a slobbery kiss,Ew and backed out of the kitchen looking at me,saying,"Later loser!"
"See ya around four eyes!"I yelled after him.
Yeah I know I need to work on my comebacks but in my defence I was distracted this morning by last night's event.
"Jade! Don't say that,"mom said waving her spatula at me,I grinned despite her frown,she had some flour on her nose.Dad walked in and wiped her nose for her before sitting down to have breakfast.
"Morning dad,"I said and another car's horn came.It was Kate.
"My ride's here.Bye dad,bye mom,love ya,"I yelled rushing out of the house with my backpack.
"Slow down!" dad called after me.I hopped in next to Kate in her red Convertible.Actually it was both Kate's and her sister Casey's convertible since they both pitched in for it.Casey had been hitching a ride with her boyfriend these days so Kate had access to it.
"Hey!"Kate said flashing me a smile,she was wearing her sunglasses.I pulled out mine from my pocket and put them on as well.
"Hey,"I said smiling back at her.
"Shall we?"she said.
"Yeah,"I said putting on my seat belt.
"Look I'm really sorry about dragging you to school alst night,it was my fault we got stuck in such a situation-"Kate started a moment later but I cut her off.
