I'm not scared of you, she says. Ha! Makes me laugh. She thinks she's better off with Tom than at home. Thats a joke. She has no idea what he gets up to. She has no idea what I know or what I'm capable of. We used to be friends, you know. Best friends. All of us. Me, Tom & Lily. But then she moved away. It was just us two. He was so heartbroken after that. It was her fault, she left and I had to pick up the pieces. It was a total mess. Then we started high school. We got new friends. We become enemies. It wasn't my fault we turned against each other. He kissed my girlfriend (now ex) AND got with the girl I liked! We went our own ways. After that, I started treating everyone badly. A few years later, I found these friends & turns out they were the rival gang of the one Tom was in. So I suddenly become leader. I go home, just for Missy. She's my 15 year old sister. As I walk in, its a wreck. Mom & dad had CLEARLY been arguing again. Vases had been smashed. I run upstairs to find Missy crying. 'its okay. Its fine. What happened?' I hug her. 'mom & dad were arguing again. So I Went in my room. I heard the door slam and looked out the window. I saw mom leaving. She had bags. She's gone. Hudson, mom's left us. Then dad came in and yelled at me, saying it it was my fault. So I said it was his fault for not showing how much he loved her and he slapped me' Missy slowly says. 'where is he now?' i ask. 'he went to the pub' she says. 'come on, we're going out. To see a friend' I say. The person isnt' my friend but only she'll understand. I pull my phone out and send a text
Its Hudson. Can you meet me in the park please?
She replies
How do I know you're not gonna hurt me?
Because it's about my sister. You know how much I love Missy from when we were friends and I still love her that much
Fine. I'm on the way now
We sit down on a pathetic of grabs. The girl I want to talk to runs up to us. 'hey. Whats up?' she asks. 'hi Lily. Missy needs your help' I tell her.

'Lily! Why don't I see you anymore??' Missy asks. 'Because your big brother acts like an ass more than ever' Lily says sweetly, glaring at me. 'so, whats up?' She asks. 'well, our dad has gotten...aggressive. Especially since him and mom started arguing. Take a look at Missy's left eye and right arm' I tell her. She does as I say and gasps. 'has your mom been hurting you?' She asks Missy. She nods. She hugs her. ' know what you're going through. At first, you'll feel like crap & like it's all your fault. Like you don't belong in the world' Lily explains. 'and then?' Missy asks. 'I don't know. I'm still getting through the first part. Day at a time, but we'll get through it' she smiles and ruffles her hair. 'you mean I'll see you a lot again?' Missy asks. Lily nods. 'no messing up my hair though!' she shouts. 'okay okay! Lils puts her hands up defensively, as of surrounding. 'Will you two be friends again, then?' she asks. 'I'm not sure' Lily says, glancing at me. 'me and Tom are friends again' She tells her. 'really? Thats good. Why aren't those two friends then?' she asks. 'lets just say SOMEONE' Lily glares at me 'has done some VERY stupid things' Missy frowns. 'I'll try be friends with him though. No promises' she says. 'Tom wont like this by the way' Lily tells me. 'I have to take this' she says, answering her phone & walks off. 'what did you do?' Missy asks. 'nothing, I swear!' I lie. She grabs my phone and scrolls through texts. 'you used the fact she gets abused by her had against her?!' Missy shouts. 'You really are an ass hole!!' 'I have to do this!' we year Lily shout. 'What is your problem?' 'Look, I made a promise' 'Woah woah woah. Hold on a second. Thats not fair. Where am I gonna go?' She walks out. 'he kicked me out. Tom kicked me out. I have nowhere' She frowns. I run over to her and hug her. 'Its okay. You can stay here' I tell her. 'Look, I only said that stuff because Amelia forced me to. Besides, Tom stole my girlfriend after you left' I say. 'why should I believe you?' She asks. I show her a bunch of texts off Amelia. 'I'm Sorry. Thanks' She hugs me back then hugs Missy. 'if dad says anything, just ignore him and protect Missy' I tell her. She nods. 'Get in here, you pair of rejects!' 'Dad's back!' Missy squeaks. The three of us go into the living room. 'you get out!' he shouts, slapping Lily. 'leave her alone!' I shout. 'no, Hudson. I'm used to being abused by people. Physically and mentally/emotionally. Its fine' she tells me. 'its not though' I shout. I push dad down. 'hudson, no!' Missy cries as dad shoves me down. 'and as for you' He laughs at Missy. He grabs her hair and chucks her at the wall. Lily takes Missy and rushes her upstairs. 'You're a mess! Hurting your own kids AND someone who isn't even yours?!' i shout. 'Im embarrassed to call you my father' I shout and run upstairs before he can do anything. 'are you okay?' I ask Missy and Lily. Lily nods and so does Missy. 'Missy, it's gonna be alright. I know what it's like' Lily tells Missy. 'my dad abused me before I Went to live with Tom. It was actually the reason I did' she explains, with a bitter laugh at the mention of her dad. I hug the two of them. Lily suddenly gasps. 'my stuff. It's all at Tom's' she explains with dread. 'You can try fit into some of my stuff' I say. 'You should take your jacket off. It's really hot' I say. She rubs her left arm nervously. I grab her arm and pull the sleeve up. I gasp at the bruises. 'your dad?' i ask. She nods

Months later
Im waiting for Lily by the school doors. She walks in with Hudson and Caitlin. 'Lily, can we talk?' I ask. Hudson gets defensive and stands between us. 'Its okay. I'll catch up with you' She says. 'Thank you' I say. 'No. Me first. I don't know what you we're playing at last week. I'm there for Missy. I'm the only one who can help her right now' She says. 'I don't know what happened to me last time we spoke' Thats a lie 'But please, can we be friends again?' I ask. She stands there for a few minutes thinking then glares at me. 'No' she glares and runs over to Hudson and Caitlin. I must have a dazed look because Dan waves his hand in front of my face. 'what?' I snap. 'What? Busy staring after your future girlfriend' he laughs. I glare. 'Don't joke about Lily' I say but then start laughing. 'nah, but seriously man, don't joke about me & her. Even though there is no me & her' I say truthfully. 'fine. I wont' Dan laughs. I stare at her. 'Someone's in loooove' Dan laughs. 'Let's go, you big loser' I laugh. We walk off. 'So. How long?' Dan asks. 'My whole life' I say. He starts laughing. 'No, seriously. We were best friends when we were little. I've loved her for pretty much most of my life' I smile fondly at the thought of her. 'Well, what you gonna do about this?' He asks. 'Nothing. I messed up big time. We argued. She's staying at Hudson's for his sister but I got jealous. Me! Jealous!' I laugh. 'When don't you screw things up' He laughs. 'Look, She's not there for him. Who was the first person she went to?' He asks. 'me' i mutter. 'Then you really need to sort things out. And control your jealousy you idiot!' He laughs. 'You're right' I admit. 'of course I am' He shouts as I run to find the love of my life

Lily
I start to shiver. Not from cold. But from fear. This was the first time in months that I'd been at school without Tom by my side. 'It'll be okay' Caitlin smiles. 'how are you so happy all the time?' I laugh, still shivering from fear. 'Don't know. Just am' we start laughing. Suddenly I'm spun around into a hug. I recognize the smell. I'd know that smell anywhere. 'tom?' I ask. 'I've been looking everywhere for you' He smiles. I hug back. 'You hurt her and I will end you. Kay?' Cait growls at him. I smile fondly of my best friend. 'Don't let go. Not just yet' I say. More of a plead really. 'Of course not' he laughs. I'm still mad at you though' I tell him. 'Good. I wouldn't want it any other way. Just, let me know when you're not' He tells me. I nod. 'What's going on?' Hudson. I step out of the hug and for once I don't know what to say.
