"No!" The witch screamed running towards the spot where Nicholas laid clutching Cassandra. "Not my daughter!" She grabbed the girl into her arms and began to cry.
Nicholas scooted away from the witch as if he were avoiding her touch and stood next to Olympia.
"You were in love with the witch's daughter?" Olympia quietly confronted the man who stood next to her.
"She wasn't like her mother." He whispered back. "She was a sorceress, descended from the blood line of the one who made the middle nation." He whispered.
The witch looked up from her daughter. "That heart belongs to me!" She screamed.
No Estelle, the voice boomed from the Crystal. My heart could never belong to you after the way you treated poor Gretchen all those years ago. I can't even imagine all the horrible things that you did to stay alive after all these years. The heart yelled.
"You're the witch that cursed prince Andrew? That means you've been alive for five hundred years." Olympia said. But Estelle didn't care to answer the little toady. She was more concerned with the heart.
"You gave her your heart!" Estelle cried out.
Willingly.
"You will not get this heart witch." The princess said.
"Prince Nicholas will die without the heart!" The witch said.
"At least I'll be with Cassandra!" Nicholas replied.
"Don't you see, you fool boy, with the heart and the blood of the killer and the potion Cassandra already started for you, you can save her, yourself as well."
The witch saw the flicker run across Nicholas's face. He would do her bidding.
"She won't give you her blood or the heart of her own free will, Nicholas. You will have to kill her for it. Kill the dragon's love and save your own!"
"Damn right I won't do it on my own." Olympia said. "Why should Nicholas and Cassandra get a happy ending at the expense of my own!"
Nicholas walked towards Princess Olympia and paused. "Do it for Cassandra." The witch yelled.
"No." Nicholas said. "I won't kill her. It's not what Cassandra would have wanted."
"Do you think she would make the same sacrifice for you, toady!" The witch yelled in frustration.
"No. She would kill me." Nicholas said as a matter of fact staring Olympia straight in the eyes. "She would take revenge on me for killing her love. But I'm going to be better." Nicholas said. "She's going to take her heart back to the middle kingdom where it will forever be safe from you and I will see my Cassandra on the other side."
