The fur on my back stood erect while I barred my canines at the two figures in front of me.

"Tsk tsk, little wolf. Your kind knows better than to wander across our land."

"Stupid actions come with their consequences." Before I could make a single move a harsh hit came at the side of my head, rendering me of consciousness.

"What's the meaning of this interruption?"

"You know how we feel about feeding time, young ones."

"We apologize masters, but we found her on our land." I felt my feet dangling just above the ground, both of my arms being held up by two different sets of arms, and the pungent iron infused aroma of blood surrounded me.

"Her stench is ruining my appetite." I couldn't help the smirk that crossed my face.

"Your stench is bringing me fall back in to unconsciousness." The sound of footsteps had my eyes opening. Perfectly polished black shoes came into view as they stopped below my still hung head.

"What's your name young wolf?" I rolled my head to the side before I slowly looked up. I held back the grimace from the sight in front of me. One of them stood only a foot away from me. His vibrant red eyes stood out against the long black hair that fell behind his shoulders. Six more stood behind him, including the other two leaders.

My eyes traveled to the side of the room where a pile of bodies laid lifeless in their own blood. I circled my head back to look him in the face.

"My name is none of your business." He let out a sigh, turning to look behind him at a girl. Her blond hair washing out her already pale features.

"Jane." A sudden burst of pain shot through my entire body. Each one of my limbs bent at irregular angles as if I was shifting for the first time again. My mouth opened to let out piercing screams mixed with howls. I felt my arms be let go as I fought against their hold to be able to shift and be in my stronger form.

"Aro." There were a few seconds before he spoke again.

"Jane that is enough." The pain subsided while my body fell limp as I gasped for air. The same two men pulled me up from the ground, this time one letting me lean against him for support. "Your name child." I drunkenly lifted my eyelids to look at him again.

"Ophelia. My name is Ophelia."

"Ahh what a beautiful name to match a beautiful lady. Though, now it seems we have a larger topic to discuss then simple territory crossing." He switched his gaze from me to a guard behind him. I followed his gaze only to be stopped once I met the vampires ruby eyes. My breath was caught in my throat while I took in every aspect of his face and body. His eyes were a bright shade from just feeding. His skin was the common sheer marble every one of his kind had, but his was different. It seemed to hold a more...lively appearance. The mixture of brown and blond in his tousled hair contrasted beautifully together. He wore the required all black attire of the guard along with the necklace that held the crest of his coven. His physique was slender, but was accompanied by enough muscle mass to show even the humans he had strength.

A loud obnoxious laugh drew my thoughts away from analyzing him. "The bond has been reciprocated. How lovely to witness such a moment." He gestured to the two guards beside me. "Clean up this mess while I have Demetri show his mate to their room."

"I'd rather have the girl use her mind to send me through hell and back for hours than stay in this place for a single night." I moved my head to look at the pale beauty. "You may be my imprint and I may be your mate, but you and I both know we'd be kidding ourselves to even think we'd have a chance. I am not willing to waste my time and effort into working for something I'll never have." Aro's expression changed from overjoyed to dismay in a matter of seconds.

"Demetri, you simply don't feel the same way, do you?" He kept his eyes on me as he spoke.

"I do." The coven leader let out another sigh at his statement.

"Very well. I will not pain a member of my guard by making him witness his mates death so consider it a parting gift that we let you leave without anymore harm. It was bittersweet to have met you, young Ophelia." He signaled for the men to let go of my arms. I stood there for a moment, only looking at what was meant to be mine for life, then I turned my back on him and walked through the doors I was earlier dragged through.
