I stood there, my brain not really comprehending what he said. My mouth was slowly moving as my brain was trying to think of what to say, but nothing was coming out.
"I know I'm not the imprint you expected nor wanted. Meeting me didn't live up to what you imagined it would be since you were a little girl and I know that, I recognize that. I know you don't believe me when I say that I see you as more than a label and that I wouldn't give you a second thought if you weren't my mate, but you have to." He took the steps needed to eliminate the space between us. His hands went to hold both sides of my face, his thumbs caressing the skin of my cheeks. "You have to believe me." I watched his eyes for any sign of hesitation, uncertainty, anything to tell me that he wasn't being honest about what he was saying.
I couldn't find anything.
His right thumb started to shift towards my lips, tracing the outline of the bottom one. His eyes went from watching his thumb's movement to my eyes.
"You're not leaving me hanging again." His mouth tilted up into a smirk before coming in contact with mine. His lips were cold against my warm ones. He was taking it slow, testing his control, which must have been better than both of us thought because before I knew what was happening he had me against one of the countless pine trees. Both sets of lips increased in speed and craving. My hands went to the back of his neck and my fingers took ahold of the hairs resting there. Giving a quick tug to them, a groan left the beautiful lips that were attaching themselves to my neck. His hands went down to the back of my thighs, gripping the fabric of my dress and pushing it up to expose my heated skin. He gave out another groan as he fingers fanned out along my thighs before his grip tightened and he lifted both legs up to wrap around his waist. The heels of my feet pushed into his back, forcing him to become flush against me. There wasn't room for a single piece of grass to flow between us.
"So much for the reserved and refined Demetri." I smirked against his lips. He playfully nipped at my lips before slightly pulling away to look me in the eyes.
"I told you that you bring out a different side of me." I let out a quiet gag in response.
"And now you're trading in the biblical versus for sappy romance quotes?" An actual, full out laugh came from him. His head was thrown back, eyes squeezed shut as the most beautiful sound came I've heard rumbled from his chest and passed his lips.
"When have I ever quoted the Bible?" He still had a large smile laid across his face as he tried to suppress more laughter that threatened to erupt. I shrugged my shoulder, feeling a smile of my own take over my face just from looking at him.
"Anything that comes out of your mouth sounds like a bible verse." He quirked an eyebrow, his smile forming into a smirk.
"I think I can think of a few things to say that you won't find anywhere in the Bible." I pulled him in by the collar of his shirt, brushing my lips against his.
