"So-" Josh says while sliding even closer to me which, strangely, immediately repulses me. I don't know what it is with this guy but he is way too creepy for me. "You're single then right?" Before I could tell him I wasn't, he cuts me off and keeps talking. "Ya know, Nick may be rich but I make up for it in other ways, if you know what I mean." I gag a bit when he says that.

"Nick is rich?"

"You didn't know that?" Sean says with a weary look on his face.

"No." I am completely lost right now.

"Yeah, his dad  is completely loaded. He doesn't like to mooch off of him too much though. That's why he lives with his mom." I am completely bewildered. How could he not have told me this. Maybe I just haven't even cared. Now I feel really guilty about not letting him tell me about himself. I hear the sound of a doorbell ring and Blaine's voice yelling, "I'll get it!" Nick comes walking down the stairs with drinks in his hands. He passes them out to everybody as about eleven people come down the stairs. Seven girls and four guys. Oddly enough, everyone has a swimsuit on. Nick comes closer to me and I speak over everyone anxious chatter to him.

"What's going on?" He smiles but it doesn't quite seem whole hearted like it usually is.

"I knew you wouldn't come if I told you that we were going to be going to the lake party so, yeah."

"A lake party? As in bonfire, smores' and stuff.

"As in bonfire, smores' and stuff." he says with a nervous chuckle. I pause a second to think.

"I trust you." I finally say and he lets out a deep breath that I didn't know that he was holding.

"Time to party!" Some random Shaun White wannabe yells. We all clamber in to cars and in my case, a motorcycle. We drive around for about fifteen minutes until we come up to this beautiful lake. The moon reflects off of the crystal waters and it ripples as if it invites us to its cool depths. Everyone automatically runs and jumps into the waters.

"It's a tradition." Nick says to me. I shrug and take a running start into the beautiful body of water. Everyone laughs and splashes each other in the lakes slightly cold depths. Most people went out of the water within the first five minutes. Nick and a couple of other people stay in the water. I float looking at the moon. It's really beautiful tonight. It is full and slightly blue. Times like these I don't ever want to back to the city. All of a sudden I feel hand on my waist and I'm lifted into the air I giggle at the sudden moment of weightlessness that I experience. Then I squeal as I am dunked in the water. I sputter out water when I resurface. I look up to see Josh laughing at me.

"What's your problem?" I ask him after I start coughing out water and part of my lungs.

"You looked like a downer over here so I thought that you needed to lighten up a little."

"Your a jerk dude." Nick says. He comes to my side and pulls me back protectively. What was that about?

"Not my fault that you have a thing for her too." I start to blush Nick opens his mouth to speak but Josh cuts him off. "Don't even deny it because I saw you staring at her ever since we got here." And then there came the blessed awkward silence that I have been inevitably dreading.

"I'm gonna go somewhere over there and do stuff." I say and I walk out of the water. The silence may have left but the awkwardness still remains. I mingle with a bunch of people and I make a lot of cool new friends. I didn't see Nick or Josh for the rest of the party. Finally they came back once the party was dying down and everyone started to go home. They both walk up to me and Josh has a black eye and bruises on his face. Nick has a busted lip. Josh looks ten times worse than Nick though.

"Oh my gosh! What happened?"

"We just had a little talk." Nick said.

"Doesn't look like a little talk to me."

'I'm sorry for earlier." Josh says.

"That's fine, it wasn't even that big of a deal." I say. I can't believe Nick would do something so drastic over something so unimportant. Nick's lip keeps bleeding and it looks like it hurts a lot so I take him by the arm and make him sit on a bench. I completely ignore Josh. I dig in my purse and take out a tissue and I clean off his lip.

"You really shouldn't get in fights for me." I say.

"You always have to fight for people that you care about." He whispers. He leans in closer to me and I close my eyes. Stop! you have a boyfriend my internal conscience says to me. I ignore it. I'm a teen, I should live a little. We are so close.

RIIIIIIIIING!!!! my phone yells at me. Ugh way to ruin a moment.
