My eyes trailed over the rain covered streets as I sat in my second story bedroom, looking out my window. She always walked by whenever it stormed. She looked so calm and content, like nothing mattered in that moment except for the rain drops falling on her ivory face. The same time whenever it rained she would just stop and admire the clouds on the sidewalk in front of my house. She never seemed to be wearing a heavy jacket even though it had to be at least 40 with the high winds and 3 feet of rain. I am always able to see her beautiful smile as she seemed to let her own thoughts consume her.
Today was different though. It hadn't rained in almost a week, causing me not to see the y/h/c headed girl walk down my block in awe. On my street trees hung, and seemed to dance with each other during the almost weekly storms. They made a roof over the damp street only letting streams of light through.
My feet padded along the wood floor as I reached the door, contemplating if I should go out and get the mail or just leave it for my roommate to get. Thinking of the possibilities of just maybe seeing the beautiful girl, I swung open the door and walked down the drive way to the little black box at the end.
While reading the mail as I slowly walked toward my driveway, an impact that couldn't even knock me over, but caused me to drop the mail, startled me. Looking up my eyes met the deep y/e/c eyes of the girl who walked in the rain. "I'm so sorry! I wasn't looking where I was walking." I simply told her it was fine when she asked for my name shortly after. "Ryan. The names Ryan." A smile spread across her face as she stuck her hand out, "Well Ryan, I'm y/n."
