To Anna the library was like a second home. While she was at the library, she went on a dangerious adventures and solved the world's toughest mysteries. The library was her safe haven.
After returning her books, she made her way to the teen fiction section. She decided her next book should be romance. Anna was a sucker for a cheesy romance but anything overly cliche greatly annoyed her.
Maybe something with a little history or something with a bad boy.
A couple of minutes after she started searching for the perfect book, she noticed a guy approaching the teen section. He looked serverly out of place. She ignored him and continued her search until he asked, "Wow, this place is really empty." She turned to face him slightly annoyed.
"Yea." She muttered, attempting to murder his attempt at starting a conversation.
"I'm Nick." Nick said with his hand held out.
"Anna." She ignored his arm.
Nickolas caught whiff of her agitated state, but still continued to try to make conversation. "Any book recommendations?" He asked with a hopeful expression on his face.
She turned and muttered a quick 'no'.
Nick on the other hand still persisted on trying to make a conversation with her. "So why aren't you on vacation like most of this town?" He asked while looking at her. He noticed she was overly short and wasn't at all skinny. He noticed how smooth her skin was and how she didn't seem to be wearing make up like most kids her age.
"Too poor."
"Soooo-." Anna quickly interrupted him.
"Look, I know your type and I would prefer it if you just leave me alone." All Anna wanted to do was pick out a good romance and sit down to read like she did every summer.
Nick chuckle before asking, "My type? What's my type?"
Anna glared at him. He was the epitome of a jock. He was tall with muscular arms and wore expensive sportswear. "Come on. Don't play dumb." Anna said while her nose was still stuffed in a book.
Nick walked closer to Anna wanting to get as close to her as possible. He was genuinely curious. He wanted to know her answer.
Instead of answering him, she decided to ignore him. Maybe he will go away. He didn't move. He stood staring at her until he asked "If you get to insult me based on stereotypes then I can do the same to you."
Anna looked up at Nick eyes wide. "Don't even try it."
Nick smirked and responded with "Or what? You'll get your many gay uncles and cousins after me?"
"Look, why don't you go back to the locker room with your naked buddy's."
Nick laughed and walked to one of the tables close by. "I'll be here if you wish to apologize." Anna rolled her eyes.
"Apologize for what exactly?"
"For insulting me."
Anna rolled her eyes again. "Oh don't be so sensitive." When she noticed the book in his hand she spoke again. "Don't read that book. It's a piece of trash. You'll be highly disappointed." Anna then sat in front of him.
It couldn't hurt to try and make a friend.
"So why are you not on vacation?"
"My aunt thought it would be best if I got to know the town better since I just moved here." Anna nodded in understanding.
"There really nothing to see. This town sucks."
"My aunt made me a list." He pulled the familiar paper out of his pocket. After unfolding the paper he passed it to Anna.
Anna looked at each destination. She recognized all of them. "Oh the museum. Sounds fun." Her sarcasm was obvious.
"Yea. I wish I had someone to accompany me." He was looking directly at her with hopeful eyes. "Please."
She hesitated. Would it hurt to say yes? After seconds of intense thing she looked at him and spoke. "Sure." Although she didn't want to admit it, Anna was excited. "Well I guess I better head home before it starts to storm." Anna noticed the fast moving storm clouds while looking out the window. "I hate walking through rain."
"I can drive you if you want?" Nick didn't mind, in fact he wanted to spend as much time with her as possible. Moving to a new town made him feel excruciatingly lonely. She was the only person he had made a conversation with in this town.
"Nice try but I'm not giving you my address. I don't wanna be slaughtered in my sleep." Anna loved watching anything scary and because of that, she knew not to give a stranger her address.
"Okay. How about your number?." Nick wanted to be positive that he would see her again.
Anna pulled a pen out of her purse and wrote her number down. She then got up to leave. "Lets meet tomorrow at the museum at three."
Nick nodded before responding. "Okay it's a date."
