Part 1

“I have no idea why I let Luca talk me into this weekend camping trip.” I grumble into the phone while packing up my duffle bag with some comfy Aritzia sweaters. “Oh please, like you needed much convincing. You love that outdoorsy stuff” my best friend Abby snorts. She was right, my brother had merely asked if I wanted to go camping with him and his buddies this weekend and I jumped at the opportunity; needing to get away for a few days. It had seemed like a good idea at the time, but now that I had a few days to actually think it through I wasn’t sure if I wanted to go anymore. I mean the guys were great- Robbie and Caleb have always been nice to me and they were decent enough, but I worried that spending the weekend with them and Luca would turn into this huge weird awkward mess. I’m sure they wanted to do their own thing and I already felt like I was imposing. “Please come with me, I’d feel a lot more comfortable with a girl there. Pleeeease? I heart you” I beg Abby, hoping she’d take pity on me and finally agree to come along. “No way, Y/N” Abby says with finality. I sigh in defeat “You seriously suck.”

I fling my duffle bag over my shoulder and start heading downstairs. We had decided to start loading up one of the cars tonight so we could take off tomorrow after school without getting too delayed with the packing. All that was left to do tomorrow was fill up the coolers with food and drinks and tie up our bikes, maybe even the canoe if dad let. Twin Falls was about a 3 hour drive from Galveston and was absolutely beautiful in the winter. I feel myself start to get excited again as i reach the bottom of the stairs. I step into the kitchen and I’m not surprised to see Robbie going through our fridge; the boy was a bottomless pit. Robbie turns from the fridge and smiles at me. Wow, he just keeps getting hotter I think to myself, doing a quick glance over of his pale face and thick brown hair. His lips are bright red. “Hey you” I smile back at him. “Hi Y/N, finished packing up your shoes?” he gestures towards my large duffle bag as he takes a bite out of an apple. “Yeah, I packed some extra pumps just for you” I respond dryly, walking over to him. “Sweet” he chuckles through bites. “Easy on the produce, you know you gotta work for your food around here…can you take this out to Luca for me, please” I hand him my duffle bag and he slumps forward under its weight dramatically. ”As you wish” Robbie replies looking down at me, a grin playing on his lips; he knows he’s quoting one of my favorite movies. I swoon a little on the inside when he winks at me, his gorgeous eyes crinkling a bit at the corners as his face breaks out into a full smile again. I’ve known Robbie forever, he and Luca go way back and are the best of friends. Robbie’s a cutie… a shit disturber, but sweet nonetheless. I can’t help but be attracted to him, it’s impossible not to find him sexy. He inches closer to me and I start to grow uneasy. “I’m really glad you’re coming with us” Robbie starts, staring at my face intently, his eyes flickering down to my lips for just a moment. “Uh, really?” I stutter at a loss for words. “Yeah. Means we’re all off kitchen duty” Robbie smiles wickedly, walking past me and out of the kitchen. You little shit.

---Part 2---

I pull my wallet, cell and keys out of my backpack before stuffing it and all the rest of contents back into the locker. It’s not like I was going to do any studying this weekend anyways, why bother lugging it with me back home. I quickly check myself in the small mirror and the dark circles under my eyes jump out at me. I groan, wishing I had some concealer in my locker, but settle for some gloss instead. I apply it quickly over my plump lips and put it back in its respectful place in my locker before closing it shut and starting down the hall.

“Hey, Y/N, wait up!” Abby sprints to catch up with me. “Can you drop me off at home? Brian is picking me up at 5 and I still need to get ready.” I roll my eyes, not bothering to cover up my distaste. “Are you really going to go out with him again? He’s such a jerk, Bee.” My phone vibrates in my hand and I check the text quickly, picking up my pace slightly after reading it. Luca has already left his school and is on his way to pick up the ice for the coolers. “Whatever, he’s a hot jerk” Abby responds. I shake my head in disapproval. Going to an all-girls school had made Abby even more boy crazy, if that was even possible.  “I can drop you off at Alamo and 45th if you want, I got to get home fast and change. The guys are already on their way.” “Yeah, that works for me. Are you excited?” She asks as we cross the street to the parking lot. A gust of cold wind sends my long hair flying into my mouth and I spit it out. “I don’t know, I think so. I just want to get away from everything and shut down my brain. I’ve just been so exhausted lately” I mutter, turning on the ignition. “Yeah, it shows” Abby giggles. “You’re such a bitch” I shake my head, pulling out of the parking lot, listening to Abby’s plans for the weekend and secretly hating her for not coming with me.
