Worth the wait

---Part 1----

Your Point of View

It was 7:20am, you fill up your new Starbucks coffee mug with your favorite coffee roast, and smiled to yourself as you breathed in its bitter sweet scent. Robbie always gave you the best birthday gifts, and this year was no exception – he had gotten you loot from your fav coffee shop including the oversized mug in your hands, a bottle of your signature perfume; babydoll by ysl, and a gorgeous Tiffany’s locket necklace. The necklace was by far your favorite gift from your birthday party the night before in your parent’s backyard.

When your parents had asked you what you wanted for your birthday this year, you had asked for a huge birthday bash with all your family and friends, as next year you would probably be away from home at a European University, if you got accepted. They were more than happy to oblige and pulled out all the stops for you for a magical night. Everyone you loved was there. After happy birthday was sung, you made a wish as you blew out your 18 candles on your two tiered birthday cake. You had wished for the same thing every year since you were 12, for Robbie to feel for you as you felt for him, hoping that maybe this year your wish would finally be granted. You had known Robbie since JK, and your families were super tight. You had grown up together, been to the same elementary school, and now finishing up high school. You had seen him grow from a scrawny little funny boy, to a handsome, charming guy with the most amazing heart and smile. You ached for him every day, wanting to feel his touch, his lips, his hands all over your body. Of course you didn’t have the nerve to make the first move, and were sure that if he felt anything like you did he would have acted on his feelings already. And so you tortured yourself day after day, hiding your true feelings from your best friend. At least you were comforted by the fact that you had his unwavering friendship, and that nothing could shake the strong bond between you two.

At the end of the night, you quickly opened your gifts from your generous family and friends. You always opened Robbie’s last. Everyone was whispering among themselves and giggling as Robbie stood next to you as you opened it. You could feel your cheeks burning as you ripped away the last of the wrapping paper revealing a small blue box. You looked up curiously at Robbie, he was looking intently at you, his green eyes reflecting the tea lights hanging across the vast backyard. His lips were curved up in a small grin. You could loose yourself in his face all day if you let yourself, he was so perfect. “Well, open it, love” he smiled.  You gasped in excitement when you pulled out a long silver necklace with a heart shaped locket. You gently opened the locket “Wow” you giggled. He had placed your favorite pic of the two of you from when you were around 6 years old hugging each other, faces covered in mud from a day at the beach, and on the other side was a recent picture of your parents and older brother smiling on vacation. You immediately threw it around your neck and wrapped Robbie in a tight warm hug. He wrapped his arms around your waist and picked you up slightly. You could hear everyone’s collective “awwww” around you, but all you could think about was Robbie’s body pressed up against yours, his hot breath on your neck, and then a gentle wet kiss on your cheek when he put you down. “Robbie, this is amazing, you’re the best” you beamed. With your hands still gripping his arms, he reached out for the locket, accidentally grazing your left breast. You shivered in response and he swallowed hard, glancing quickly at you and then back down at the locket “this way you’ll always have the people who care about you the most close to your heart” he whispered.

The buzz on your phone snapped you back to your coffee. You realized you had goosebumps all over your arms thinking about how amazing Robbie looked last night in his cream colored khakis and navy blue polo shirt, with the top three buttons undone, exposing his gorgeous neckline; he had looked so delicious. You sigh and pick up your phone. It was a text from your brother, reminding you that he would be dropping off some leftovers later in the afternoon at your condo downtown. “Thanks Josh” you reply back before finishing up your coffee, and heading into your room and changing into your running gear, excited to see Robbie in a bit for your daily morning jog.
