We all got into Ren's jeep I knew the drive wasn't going to be long, I knew the house was just around the corner but I would be lying if I said I was nervous. I felt a little nauseous, I had roll the window down for the cold air to calm me, I think Ren knew too I was nervous but he kept stealing glancing at me.We pull up to the house we had pass the first time coming here, just as I remembered it so grand and beautiful. Lyla and Constantine excused themselves said they some work to do, Lyla send me a reassuring smile before leaving.
Once gone Ren turn to me and pull me to his side, we walk to the front door feeling awkward. Do we knock? walk in? but none of that matter when the front door open and a women came out with a big smile on her face. Ren's mom is not what I expected, she looked young like maybe early 40s her black hair was pulled back in a loose bun, she wore jeans with boots like me but just a soft cream long sleeve shirt.
"I can't believe it! I really can't! oh my, just look at you. you're quite the beauty." Ren's mom said as she approached me ignoring Ren completely, before I can say anything the women pulled me in for a hug which I gladly accepted and return. "Pardon me sweetheart, I couldn't help it I'm so happy. But where are my matters, I'm Christine Cahill." She beamed at me when she pulled away from the hug I automatically smiled.
"No no it's not a problem." I chuckle while smiling at my future mother-in-law, "I'm a hugger anyway so I don't mind, I'm Audrey Reed it's very nice to meet you." while I said that I felt shy all the sudden, knowing I'll will be Mrs. Cahill too.
Christine then turn her attention to her son and smile pulling him in for a hug, just looking at them I knew he adored his mother which made me miss my mom. Also made me think will my family be invited to the wedding? is there a wedding? do they do wedding? all these questions came up I'm stressing myself out.
"Come sweetheart let's meet Ren's father." Christine beamed at me while pulling me inside. The house inside is beautiful decorated, Mrs. Cahill walked into the living room there stood a very tall and intimidating man. He turn when his wife touched his shoulder, we came face to face and I knew Ren got his looks from his dad.
Ren's father stood very still staring at me only tilt his head to the right then straighten out, a smile broke across his handsome face then offers me his hand, "Hello, I'm Ike Cahill. It's a pleasure to meet you." I take his huge hand and he shakes it so gently.
"Hi, I'm Audrey Reed. It's nice to meet you too Mr. Cahill." I don't know if they can tell but it felt so hard saying that, my nerves were flying over the place! His dad is so charming! Mr. Cahill smiles again while chuckling I also notice Mrs. Cahill was giggling behind her hand, I turn to Ren if he was laughing as well but no he was glaring at me.
Mrs. Cahill came between Ren and I and explained, "Don't mind Ren's little glare, he's just mad his father is still as charming as ever! you should have seen the girls who dated Ren when they came over. All they wanted to do was hangout with Ike. It drove Ren mad knowing his father can still cast his love charm, right honey?" Mrs. Cahill says while looking at her husband and in return he gives her such a loving look I felt rude looking.
"Mom I am not jealous, I simply would like if dad didn't do that, especially to my future wife." Ren says as he moves around his mom to put an arm around my shoulders pulling me close to him. At that Mr. Cahill chuckles before moving to take a seat on the sofa.
As we all take our seats I notice a serious look comes across both Ren's parents face, "Audrey let me say first I am grateful for your actions, I heard from Ren and Constantine your brave tale. I must admit you are a worthy women for my son, I also wanted to give my apology on the behalf of my son." Mr. Cahill says I see Ren clenching his fist looking up, meeting his father glaze.
