"Edgy! Nick! Larry!" You called out to your three best friends. "Look what I found!"
You sauntered over to them, hands outstretched, carrying a small kitten.
"Woah, (Y/N), where did you find that?" Larry gawked in awe.
"I found it in the park on one of the benches, it doesn't have a collar or anything so I think it might be a stray" you said, as you looked at the kitten with saddened eyes.
Phoenix chimed in; "Well, what should we do with it then? We can't just leave him here alone. He could get hurt."
You held the kitten up infront of you and inspected it. It's calico fur was matted around its neck and sides, and it looked incredibly thin - presumably due to a lack of food.
"I don't know Nick. I can't keep it, my mum would never let me have a pet in the house, let alone a stray." You let out a defeated sigh.
"Yeah, that's the same with me, what about you Larry?" Nick asked.
"I don't think so man, sorry."
You sighed and sat down, cradling the kitten in your arms.
"I'm sorry kitty, but there's nothing we can do for you" you whispered, tears starting to form in your eyes.
Phoenix and Larry looked on with guilt - they hated seeing their friend get upset - especially over matters involving animals.
Your tears started flowing down your cheeks as you cuddled into the kitten's fur even more. You stayed like this for several minutes until you felt a light tap on your left shoulder.
"I can take care of him if you want"
You turned around to look up, to see Miles smiling sympathetically at you.
"I'm sure my dad will be fine with it, seeing as he likes animals."
You smiled at his words.
"And you can come and see him whenever you want okay?" Miles finished with a small smile.
Your smile soon turned into a wide grin.
"Thank you so much Miles, you're the best!" You exclaimed as you pulled him into a hug. Miles' face became dusted in pink for a split second at your action, though he simply patted your back in response.
"It's no problem (Y/N)." He stated. "Which reminds me, you need to give him a name, don't you?"
You looked at him, startled. "A-are you sure it's okay for me to name him? I mean, you're going to be taking care of him after all."
"I'm sure, it's fine, so go ahead and choose a name."
"O-okay."
Miles watched you carefully as you pondered the name of the kitten. In the background, Larry was sounding wacky suggestions at you, while Phoenix was trying to calm him down.
You giggled to yourself as you stared at the small kitten.
"He looks like a bit of a trickster, so I'll call him Loki." I turned to Miles and smiled. "Is that okay?"
"Of course it is. Now come on, let's take Loki home."

- 15 Years Later -
You jolted awake suddenly. Peering around, you glanced at the clock beside you.
6.32 AM
You groaned at the time, but decided to roll out of bed anyway, and began dragging yourself to the kitchen, where you put the kettle on to make yourself a cup of tea.
"What was up with that dream..." you mumbled to yourself. "And why did I have it when I'm about to see him again for the first time in years..."
You groaned again as you took a sip on your freshly brewed tea, and turned the TV on, in order to distract yourself.
You had finally passed your Bar exam and completed all training to become a District Prosecutor at your local Prosecutor's Office. You should be excited, however, you recently learned that a certain someone was working in the same building as you. This displeased you significantly.
You began mumbling to yourself again. "How could he just leave me like that? He was my best friend. He even took Loki with him. And now I have to work with him? This is ridiculous. I won't be surprised if he doesn't even recognise me. Although, I guess I won't recognise him either..." Your words trailed away as you glanced at the clock hanging on your wall.
"I guess I better get ready then..."
