You tapped on your desk while staring down at the case files infront of you.

"A very straightforward case." You muttered to yourself as you flicked through the pages of the file. "A jealous man stabbed his ex-girlfriend for not agreeing to take him back in broad daylight... She was stabbed three times, once in the upper chest and twice in the stomach, the fatal blow was the stab to the chest which pierced her heart according to the autopsy."

You had become so engrossed in your file that you didn't notice your office door open, allowing someone to slip into the room.

"Right, so I have two key witnesses lined up for the case, both saw the crime in action but from different angles, but one saw what occurred before the stabbing too..." You continued muttering to yourself.

"Miss (L/N)." A voice called out, but you did not notice it as you were too engrossed in your work.

"I'll have my detective collect full reports on each piece of evidence, especially on the murder weapon..."

"Miss (L/N)."

"The suspect used a machete if I'm not mistaken..."

"(Y/N)!"

You were snapped out of your thoughts by someone calling out your name. You snapped your head upwards, so be greeted with a somewhat flustered red prosecutor.

"S-sorry, Miss (L/N), I didn't mean to act so unprofessional just then, i was simply trying to get your attention for a moment." Miles apologised.

"No, no, it's fine, what did you want exactly?" You questioned him.

"Ah, well, I was wondering if you would like to go out for a cup of tea? To discuss your new case, of course." He replied, somewhat awkwardly.

You paused for a second before answering, which made Miles shift awkwardly where he was standing, anticipating your answer.

"Of course I would, it would be nice to catch up on things as well." You smiled sweetly at him.

"Y-yes, of course." He stuttered. "W-well Miss (L/N), I'll meet you in the lobby at 6pm."

"Thats fine." You replied, as Miles turned to leave the room.

"Oh, and Miles?" You voiced.

The prosecutor turned around quickly, looking startled. "Y-yes?"

"Just call me (Y/N), okay? Like you used to." You smiled at him again.

"O-oh, y-yes, of course Miss- I mean (Y/N)." He stuttered again as he looked down to the ground a blush growing on his cheeks. "Well, I'll see you at 6 then." He said quickly as he briskly walked out of the room, closing the door behind him.

Sighing, you leant back on your chair, trying to figure out why Miles would invite you out somewhere. After all, he had always preferred to be alone most of the time. Did he want to make up for being so rude to you the other day? Probably.

You sighed again and thought some more.

"I mean, at least I get to spend some time with him." You muttered aloud. "He is very handsome, I must admit, and I am starting to quite like his awkward personality... it is quite cute..."

"WHO'S QUITE CUTE?"

You jumped from your seat and looked up, to be greeted with the sight of a grinning blue-clad attorney leaning in the doorway. Once you saw him, he bounded into the room, near slamming the door behind him.

"Hey (Y/N), I asked you a question, who's cute?" He asked again.

"N-no one, Nick." You replied, utterly startled at his sudden, yet well-timed appearance.

"Well, well (Y/N), that's obviously a lie." He chuckled tauntingly. "Soo, who has got your seal of approval then?"

"No one has!" You replied, somewhat annoyed at his nagging.

He paused for a moment - you could bear enough hear the cogs whirring in his spiked head.

"(Y/N)..."

You ignored him.

"(Y/N)... You think Edgeworth is cute don't you?"

"How the hell did you figure that out??" You blurted out, before realising what you said, causing you to cover your mouth in an attempt to retract your words.

At this point, Phoenix started laughing.

"I didn't figure it out, I just guessed a random name." He continued laughing. "I didn't think I'd get it right on my first try."

You sighed in defeat as you ploughed down into your chair.

"I hate you..." You mumbled in defeat.

"No you don't (Y/N). Anyway, I can assume that you like good old Edgey-boy then?"

"I-I don't know!" You exclaimed, flustered at his remark.

"Well, I'd say it's a possibility." Phoenix chuckled.

"Yeah, well, i doubt it, why would I like someone who was such a jerk to me yesterday?" You retorted.

"Well (Y/N), love works in mysterious ways."

"Shut it Nick."

"Fine, fine, I will. But there's no need to be so aggressive, I had only intended to visit an old friend." He replied.

"Well, thanks for coming to see me, but I have a request."

"Oh, you do now?"

"Yes, I do. As it turns out, Miles has asked me to go for a cup of tea with him later-"

"Awwww." Nick cooed.

"ANYWAY, i don't have anything nice to wear in the office, so can you go to my flat and get my white dress and shoes for me?"

"Anything for my best friend who's going on a date." He laughed.

"It's not a date!" You cried.

"Yeah, yeah, sure it isn't. Well, I'll be back soon with your stuff, so I'll see you then." He replied.

"Okay, thanks again Nick."

It's no problem (Y/N), see you later!" He said as he walked out of the door, leaving you to ponder the meaning of this outing with Miles even more.
