Chapter 02: "Me? Cute?"

Ashton texted me the next morning.

Vee❤️:Gm Ass
Ashton❤️: 😑
Vee❤️: OMG I MEANT ASH* SORRY😂
Ashton❤️: I know what you meant just wanted to mess with you😂
Vee❤️: Omg I hate you. I gtg wake up Lay ttyl

Smirking to myself I head to Lays room.
I shake her gently.
"Wake up Lay, time for school."
She stirs and mumbles something incoherent. Nevertheless she gets up.
"I want cereal" she says while rubbing her sleepy eyes.
"Ok I'll go make you some."
As I head downstairs the powerful smell of marijuana takes over my nose. I see Kenny and my mom, tongues all over each other, while Kenny holds a blunt. I sigh and roll my eyes not expecting anyone to see me but of course my mom catches me.
"Heyyyy Victoooriaaaa" she slurs. I can smell the drugs and booze in her breath. 
"Mother."
"Don't act sooo foormal Veeeee I'm your fuucking mother for gods sake" she slurs.
I sigh and head to the kitchen.
"Fuck you tooo" I hear her say behind me.
I grab a bowl from the cupboard and rinse it out just to be safe. I pour the cereal and milk and grab a spoon. I'm about to grab some bread to make toast when my phone buzzes.
Ashton❤️: Hey don't eat anything I wanna take you to breakfast😁
Vee❤️: You caught me at the perfect time I was just about to make toast.
Ashton❤️: Good meet me at the corner of Sandy and Kane k?
Vee❤️:Alright just gotta drop off Lay first. Say about 8:10ish
Ashton❤️: Cya there❤️
I smile at the heart he added at the end. No Vee he's just a friend don't think like that. My head says. I take the bowl of cereal upstairs to see Lay fully dressed. I give her her cereal and she murmurs a thank you. I decide to take a shower and wash my hair and face. I do some light makeup, some eyeliner and eyeshadow. Slap on some light pink lipstick and throw a pink dress on. I decide not to pick my black biker boots but my brown cowboy boots. I see myself in the mirror and smile at myself for how good I look.
"Ready?" I ask Lay.
"I guess" she responds.
We head downstairs to see our mother and Kenny fucking on the couch. I instantly push Lay into the bathroom. She shouts a hey but I lock the door.
Mom looks over at me and smirks with Kenny's dick in her mouth while he eats her out. I instantly wanna throw up but instead unlock the bathroom door and shield Lays eyes as we head out the door. After I drop off Lay I head to Sandy and Kane. I park at the parking garage just before Sandy. I see him and an instant smile starts on my face. He notices me too and smiles. God that smile. He jogged over to me.
"Hey" he says.
"Sup"
"The sky but it's all perspective."
"Nerd" I told him.
"Yeah but you love this nerd" he mumbles.
"Wh..What?"
"Nothing" he exclaims. "Let's go get some breakfast.
He takes me to this café that I've never heard of before. They had amazing coffee. Ashton was very specific with his coffee order.
"I want black coffee with a shot of creamer no sugar at all two pumps of caramel and a dollop of whipped cream with a caramel drizzle."
The waitress looked dumbfounded but nodded at the same time.
"And you miss?"
"Ummm Large black iced coffee please" I said with a smile.
She smiled back and went to make our coffees.
"Who knew you were so specific with your coffee."
"I'm a regular and know the waitresses so I usually just say my usual but she must be new because I never seen her before." I hadn't noticed it before but now I could here the slight undertone of an accent. Either Australian or British.
"Where are you from?" I ask.
"Australia. What about you?"m
"I'm a New Yorker born and raised. I moved here to L.A. not to long ago."
"Ah I guessed either NY or NJ"
"It's it because of my accent?"
"Sure is"
When our coffee arrives Ashton frowns.
"What's wrong?" I ask.
"She didn't put enough caramel."
"Omg Ash just ask her to put more in."
"No"
I call the waitress over after rolling my eyes and ask if he can have just a bit more caramel. She says of course and takes his mug.
"It was fine" he mumbles.
"Obviously it wasn't by the look in your face dummy."
"Damn it those cute eyes of yours spot everything don't they."
"Me? Cute?" I say.
"Yes Vee you are very cute" he mumbles something in an undertone that I can't hear but don't press on it.
After we ordered some muffins and ate them we went in a walk. We came across a giant puddle that, unless you wanna get hit by a car, you couldn't get around. I didn't wanna ruin my boots so I start to turn around until a very strong set of arms picks me up bridal style.
"Eek" I squeal.
Ashton walks through the water with me in his arms.
"Thank you very much." I say politely.
"No problem princess."
I didn't realize how windy it was until I was shivering. Ashton took off his jacket and gave it to me. I murmured a thanks in reply. After spending the day together I get a call from Lays school saying that her grandmother is taking her for the weekend. 
"I should start heading home." I say.
"I'll walk you to your car." He says.
When we get to my car I see that he pulled out his phone.
"Do you wanna ride?" I asked
"Can you? That would be great instead of a cab"
He gets I the car and we take off. He gives me directions to his house I notice is only a few minutes from my house.
"Bye cutie" he says leaning in for a hug.
"Bye Ash" I respond giving him a hug. Right before we pull out I give him a kiss on the cheek.
"That's for breakfast." I say
"Well then maybe I should take you out more." He responds
I giggle as he walks away.
