Chapter 01: "I'm Ashton, Ashton Irwin"

"Veeeeeee waaaake uuuup"
"What is it Lay?" I say sleepily as I open my eyes to a little girl vigorous shaking me awake.
"I'm hungryyyy" she whines.
"Ask mom to make breakfast or something."
"Moms drinking again" she mumbles very lowly but loud enough that I can hear.
"WHAT?" I burst out.
I jump out of bed and throw some clothes on. Lay grabs my arm begging me not to go down.
"No Vee, Kennys here with her"
That FUCKING KENNY!
"Look sweetheart just sit here and play with your dolls, I'm going to make you breakfast what do you want?"
"Eggs and toast"
"Ok I'm going to get it just don't leave this room no matter what you hear. Okay?"
"Okay" she mumbles.
"Vee?"
"Yeah Lay?"
"I love you"
I kiss her forehead and tell her I love her too.
I head downstairs into the hallway. I hear loud music coming from the basement. I check the kitchen for them and come to the conclusion that their in the basement. I look in the fridge for eggs and notice we're out. I sigh and start making a list of things we need from the store.
"LAY?" I yell, "COME DOWN HERE PLEASE"
I here tiny footsteps on the stairs and see her turn the corner.
"Yes?" She answers.
"You wanna stay here and play or go to the store with me?"
"Please don't leave me here," she begged.
"Then let's get our shoes on."
She slides her twinkle toes on and I slip into my black biker boots.
We get into the car and head to the grocery store.
We grab a cart and I hoist Lay into the big part.
"What kinda cereal you want Lay?"
"Fruity Pebbles!" She answers.
As I look I see that they're on the top shelf. It's not that I'm short its that the shelfs are really tall and I can't reach. I look around for help and spot nobody. I jump and try to climb but fail. Right as I'm about to ask Lay to pick a different cereal a tall man with a red bandana wrapped around his head reach up and grab two boxes of Fruity Pebbels.
"Oh hello, I saw that you were struggling so I thought I could help. Here you go sweety" he hands the box to Lay and puts the other into his cart.
"I'm Ashton. Ashton Irwin." He says as he holds his hand out.
"Vee, Vee Dell." I say while shaking his hand.
"Vee, pretty name." He says.
"It's short for Victoria"
"Even prettier. And what's this little sweethearts name?" He says gesturing to Lay.
"I'm Lay Dell. I'm 6 and were buying eggs so I can eat breakfast!" She says happily.
"Well Lay can I help you shop?"
"Can he Vee? Pleeeease?"
"If he wants to" I respond.
Ashton ends up helping us pick the best foods for our house. As we were at checkout the total was $62.95. I only had a fifty. Right as I'm about to ask to put some stuff back I see a muscular arm hand over a credit card.
"You really didn't have to."
"I wanted to" he says as he grabs some bags and loads them into he cart.
After he checks out we head outside towards my car.
"You have a phone?" He asks.
I pulled my Iphone out of my coat pocket.
"Either this is a chocolate bar or a phone. I don't know." I say
He chuckles and takes my phone and gives me his. I notice he doesn't have a password and I ask what he's doing.
Just wait until you get the text notification he said. Ding! His phone went. My phone number popped up.
"Now make it a contact and we're good."
I click the notification and notice he sent a heart. Giggling I made my contact name Vee❤️.
I added the heart because I wanted him to remember the first text he ever sent.
As I get my phone back I notice his name is Ashton❤️.
"I'll talk to you later" I said out the car window as I pulled out of the parking lot.
