A MAD Beginning

I put the eye drops in my eye and winced. Ashley had told me that they would turn my eyes red. Blinking the tears out of my eye I looked in the mirror and grinned through the burning in my eyes. My eyes were a bright red. I looked like a demon. Which was the point. I was totally gonna win the costume contest! I stepped back and looked at my costume. My black dress was tattered and only went down to my knees (it was my old dress from when I was five and my Mom died), my face was a pasty white, my black hair hung down to my shoulders in a tangled mess, and now my eyes were a bright red. Oh yeah, I was so gonna win.
I noticed that there was a voicemail on my phone and clicked the play icon. My friend Bri voice played.
"Um, I am so so sorry Sarah. But I can't come to pick you up. I overestimated the amount of people that my car would hold and we already have people sitting on each others laps in here and there isn't room for anyone else. Again I'm super sorry but your gonna have to either walk or catch a ride with someone else. Good thing Michaels house isn't too far away from your place, right? Sorry again!" Anger shot like a bullet through me but I controlled myself. I can't get too angry. Thats what got me sent to a mental hospital in the first place.
I grabbed my meds off the table and stuffed then into my purse. I glanced outside through the window, it looked like it was gonna start pouring any second. I sighed. All well, I'll walk. It was a warm day anyway and maybe it would be a warm rain. Plus, maybe water dripping off me would help with my costume.
I walked outside and got out my phone to put in the directions to Michaels house and started walking. Estimated time of arrival was 8:45. I glanced at the time on my phone. it was 7:45. Again, anger shot through me and I started taking deep breaths to calm myself down. Lightning flashed and not even a second later thunder rumbled. Great. I felt the first drop land on my nose, I cursed. It was freezing.
It started pouring and I stood there in the rain trying not to cry and holler obscenities at the sky. My phone made a weird noise and sparked in my hand making me drop it. Right into a puddle. I was totally lost, in the pouring rain, and now my phone was ruined. I started swearing at the top of my voice. I noticed a shape through the rain. It was a old pickup truck and I know I shouldn't get into cars with strangers but I was desperate. I yelled at the top of my voice, "HEY! HEY, STOP! I NEED HELP!"
The truck slowed down and stopped next to me. The door opened and the man inside said, "Get in, I'll ya a lift." I thanked him several times and got in. I noticed the man had stitches up and down his arms like he had gotten into a fight or crash. I didnt ask him about it, I wasn't going to be rude to the man who was giving me a ride. He took out a bottle and cloth and started pouring a liquid on it. The fumes made me feel light-headed. Without warning, he put the cloth over my mouth and nose. I struggled until I slumped. And right before I fell completely unconscious I thought 'I bet Bri is having a better time than I am.'
I woke up with a splitting headache. I managed to look around and noticed my hands were cuffed to the wall above me. I then remembered what happened and started to cry.          Thats when I noticed the others. Bodies. All with stitches all over them. As much as it horrified me, some part of me reveled in it. I heard footsteps coming down the stairs and the man appeared. He had several syringes that looked like they had never been washed. They were filled with a villainous looking yellow liquid. He also had an evil looking knife and a spool of thread with a needle in it.
He kneeled down in front of me with one of the syringes and injected me. Right into my neck. I cried out in pain and felt the liquid coursing through me. With every injection I felt my sanity slipping away further and further. He then took the knife and cut me on the cheek. Curving upward like a smile. Then cutting me from each corner of my eyes down to my chin. He then took the spool of thread and threaded a string through the needle. He started carefully stitching me up. He did the same to my wrists and ankles. By now I couldn't feel anything and felt my heartbeat slowing down.
He stepped back and seem satisfied with his work. He went to a table and seem to start drawing something. As I lay there slowly dying I began thinking. 'No. This is not how I'll die. I will NEVER DIE.'
I sat up from where I had been slumped on the ground. Then I stood up, feeling a seed of hate blossom into a flower in my chest. A burning cold ran through me. It filled me with a unnatural strength. I pulled on my right shackle until I heard a snap. Then I did the same with my left. The man turned around in his seat and his eyes filled with horror. I laughed at his terrified expression. Loving the scent of fear in the air. I picked up a long needle off the ground, dragging it against the wall with a horrible scratching noise that I barely heard. The man backed up until he was against the wall. I think he was pleading with me. I was laughing as I plunged the needle into his eye.
Then I thought about Bri. And everyone else at the party. Having fun while I was tortured. The cold intensified within me and I walked out of the house. Filled with a desire to make them hurt.
I got to the house minutes later. Somehow knowing exactly where they were and moving with unnatural speed. I opened the door and went down to the basement where the party was being held. I heard someone say, "Hey Sarah is finally here! Wow! Her costume looks incredibly real!" I still had the needle in my hand as I walked around to first find Bri. After she was dead I would kill the rest.
I found her getting a drink of punch. she was dressed as Laughing Jill. I smiled as I tapped her on the shoulder. She spun around nearly dropping her cup. She saw me, then saw the stitches in my face were real. I enjoyed her screams for a moment. Then plunged the needle into her throat. Pulling it out so fast that there was no blood on it. She dropped to the ground. Blood pouring out of her throat and pooling on the ground around her. The entire party seemed to freeze. Even the music pausing as I laughed, covered in Bri's blood. Then someone screamed and they all bolted for the stairs. I smiled as I watched them. I had already thought of that and had locked the door before coming down.
I waited until they realized they were trapped and then started picking them off. One by one they fell. Covering me in their sweet blood. When they were all dead I walked out the house, into the woods in the backyard. Not sure where I was going but knowing where ever I ended up there would be blood spilled. 'This.' I thought. 'Was going to be fun.'
